Synopsis
Jason Voorhees (Richard Brooker) returns again to Camp Crystal Lake, where he drowned nearly three decades before while some negligent camp counselors made out on the beach. Understandably upset by this turn of events, Jason continues to haunt his old stomping grounds, dealing death to those thrill-seeking teens who venture into the woods. This time around, Jason faces tougher victims in the form of a motorcycle gang and dons his trademark hockey mask. The film was originally presented in theatres in 3-D.

Special Features:

Fresh Cuts: 3D Terror
--We seek out new interviews with actors, writers, key production members (not included in the previous DVD release) --plus special guests (i.e. horror experts, celebrities at “Scarefest”) --to provide fresh new stories about the film.

Legacy of the Mask--We chart the evolution of the mask and the face behind the mask through the first eight films. We’ll talk to filmmakers, make-up artists, and Friday experts to explain what changed from film to film. And our expert graphics department will create a unique way to transition between Jason’s evolving looks.

Slasher Films: Going for the Jugular--How do you define a “slasher’ film and what are the rules? Using Friday the 13th films as a focal point, we’ll take a tongue-in-cheek look at this horror subgenre, with help from Friday cast members, and horror experts. Includes a quiz on the ‘rules’ of slasher films.

Lost Tales from Camp Blood Pt 2 and 3--The 'killogy'--new camp counselors meet their grizzly fate at the hands of a viscious killer. The fans clamour for deleted scenes. Blogs and rumors run rampant that they exist. But according to director Sean Cunningham, they don’t. So why don’t we create one? Our resident horror filmmakers will produce a short vignette in the same style as the original, complete with terrifying visual effects as a new camp counselors are killed off by unseen killer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Friday The 13Th Part 3, 28 Jan 2009
By L. St Laurent (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The third chapter, along with part 1, 2 and 4 (The Final Chapter) are the best in the series.
The sequels from Part V onwards became tired and turned Jason into a comedy show.

Part 3 has some great scenes, including when Jason (with his newly acquired hockey-mask) shoots a spear-gun through an unfortunate victims eyeball.
Great movie for slasher fans, although look out for the "under acting" and "over acting" which there is plenty. Also, as this was filmed in 3D there are plenty of wires to be seen in the special effect shots.
Check-out the new funky disco theme music in the credits.

Confirmed special features will include:

FRESH CUTS: 3D TERROR (FEATURETTE)
LEGACY OF THE MASK (FEATURETTE)
SLASHER FILMS: GOING FOR THE JUGULAR (FEATURETTE)
LOST TALES FROM CAMP BLOOD - PART II (FEATURETTE)
LOST TALES FROM CAMP BLOOD - PART III (FEATURETTE)
FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 3D (THEATRICAL TRAILER)

Total 43 minutes approx.

5.0 out of 5 stars The American release of Friday The 13th Part 3 is in 3 D with glasses provided, 11 Feb 2009
By David - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
Once again the American dvd release is much better than the poor UK release. This release of Friday The 13th part 3 contains the 3D version as well as the 2D version. It also comes with 2 pairs of 3D glasses which means you don't have to watch it on your own. The print is pritty good in 3D and is presented in full 2.35 widescreen. If you don't want to watch it in 3D for some strange reason, the disk also contians the normall version in 2D.

The UK release does not contain the 3D version. I guess they were too tight to invest in the 3D print which is a real shame - even the UK blu ray release doesnt include it - what a waste. This dvd is region 1 coded so you will need a multi region player. Judging by the vastly superior American dvds compaired to the UKs multi region dvd player sales should be on the increase.

4.0 out of 5 stars not 3-D, 22 Jan 2009
Contrary to what an other reviewer said, there are no uncensored versions of the friday films. They were trimmed to some extent by the mpaa in the u.s but that footage has never been seen ever and is never likely to now. You arent being short changed by some cut version..simply anything cut has never been seen anyway. The u.s new deluxe edition claims to be uncut but they had about 30 seconds trimmed which the rest of the world have seen in all home video versions of the film.

Part 3 is one of the stronger sequels and has the first appearence of Jasons hockey mask. This blu ray along with part 2 on blu ray are unavailable at present in the u.s. All they are getting for the moment is part 1 which we seem not be be getting!! weird! Also the u.s domestic re-issue of part 3 on dvd is the 3-D version of the film which the u.k blu ray is not. So if you really wanna see the original 3-D version you'll have to import the u.s region 1 dvd.
