A brilliantly versatile cookbook, with plenty of ideas for healthy but tasty meals. I didn't realise that this was a vegan cookbook when I bought it, and to be honest it has really impressed me. It is labelled as a vegetarian book but I haven't yet found anything non-vegan. I am sure if you were a vegan you would enjoy this book. Equally, I can recommend it to other non-vegans too!
This book really manages to turn healthy eating into a real treat - lots of fresh tastes and big flavours. I don't think I'm likely to use many of the juice recipes found at the back of the book, but apart from that I know I will get a lot of use out of this cookbook. I was particularly excited about all of the ideas for salad dressings and sauces - these recipes don't have to be followed slavishly but provide a lot of inspiration to 'dress up' store-cupboard ingredients like rice, vegetables from the organic box, etc. In particular, the Wild Ginger Dressing looked amazing and I made the Spiced Peanut Dressing and it tasted fantastic over a bowl of rice and vegetables.
A lot of the recipes refer you back to other recipes, eg the Revival Rice Bowl refers you back to the recipe for New Buddha Sauce and also Marinated Tempeh. I think it is pretty easy to make substitutions if you don't want to follow the recipe exactly - for instance, I substituted ready-to-eat tofu cubes for the tempeh, but I did make the New Buddha Sauce because it sounded amazing. The sauces really do make the whole meal, so I would say they are the best bit of this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have so far!
