Product Description

Product Description
This language pack is designed to give the user a working knowledge of French within three months. Essential grammar is explained in a practical manner in the book, and there are short exercises and conversational drills to put it into context. On the cassettes there is an expanded pronunciation guide, with sentences and word lists, dialogues and selected passages from the text. The tapes carry no extra tuitional material, but some exercises have been specially adapted for oral work. The book is also available separately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Develops your use of verb constructions, 28 Dec 2001
By A Customer
I have used the cassettes to improve my French a little every day whilst driving to and from work. The book & cassette approach enables the learning to be reinforced both aurally & visually.
By the end of the course you will have learned a wide range of verb constructions that are of practical everyday use.
I have re-recorded many of the examples & exercises as "English /Pause /French" to enable me to practice whilst driving to & from work!
That has made valuable use of previously "dead" time.
I have found the course thoroughly enjoyable as there are few instances where I have felt the words & phrases would not be used in my personal conversations

4.0 out of 5 stars useful, stepwise introduction to the language, 30 Aug 2001
Having had my last French lesson 16 years ago, and with a holiday in France looming, I thought I'd give this a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the way it eased me back into the language, and I've ended up stimulated and challenged to take it further. You do need to refer to the book as well as the tapes; listening in the car left me with one or two nasty gaps which weren't revealed until the last 10 minutes of the final (4th) tape - genuine exerpts from Les Miserables and two French newspapers completely flummoxed me, leaving me a little disillusioned.

4.0 out of 5 stars good, but very intensive, 19 Jan 2002
The cassettes are a must if you do not have a regular Russian teacher available. The book gives you a very quick initiation into the language. You often have to repeat the excercises various times in order to become independent of the grammer charts and vocabulary lists. A useful tool if you are prepared to work hard!
