I bought "New Wave!" in the early 70s, on vinyl, brand new for a whole 99p! It became one of my favourite albums, every track a gem. Ever since my turntable died I've been trying to find it on CD at a sensible price and, finally, here it is - with the added bonus of two bossa nova albums together. New Wave! is a studio album, while On the French Riviera is live.

With inspired arrangements by Lalo Schifrin, this is lively, joyous stuff - never "difficult" - with instant appeal that lasts forever. Dizzy is absolutely brilliant. Charlie Ventura's bass sax solo on No More Blues is superbly gutsy - always makes me smile. In fact, the whole CD does, and how often can you say that? Must be one of the best jazz albums of all time. Here is the tracklist:

Chega de Saudade (No More Blues) [10:20]
Long, Long Summer [5:15]
I Waited for You [2:44]
Desafinado [3:27]
Here It Is [8:34]
Pau de Arara [3:39]
For the Gypsies (Ole) [4:35]
In a Shanty in Old Shanty Town [4:24]
Careless Love [6:26]
Chega de Saudade (No More Blues) [5:59]
Taboo [3:05]
Gee Baby Ain't I Good to You [3:59]
One Note Samba [5:17]
Manha de Carnaval [3:28]
Pergunte ao Joao (Ask John) [2:43]
Me-Da-Um Dinheiro Ahi (Give Me Some Money There) [3:06]
