This seemed like a great little phrase book when I checked it out on Amazon and even when I looked through it at home before I left for France. It seems to have lots of basic words and phrases that I would need and the phonetic spelling bit seemed like a fab idea. HOWEVER in practice this guide was pretty much useless. The menu decoder in particular was a huge disappointment as every time I looked up a menu item it wasn't in the book! I quickly realised that the book only really had words and phrases I either already knew (despite by know means being a french speaker) or words that I would never need. I would definitly recomend people buy a more comprehensive book even for short trips!

This is a tiny book which is perfect to fit into your bag. It contains pretty much everything that you require to get by on holiday in France.

Perfect for those quick trips to get what you need.
The important thing is to give it a try, once they stop laughing at you for asking for 12 Pickled eggs in a red dress to Paris.... they will help you!
Alot better than pointing & just shouting a bit louder!
A good little guide to keep in your pocket. Did us a treat in Normandy.
