I taken notice of this book while I was scanning the internet for model soldiers of the Napoleontic period. I'm a modeler and collector and thus always on the lookout for models and even as important background information. To be honest, I was atracted by the cover without knowing the content as it was about uniforms of my favorit period and subject, Napoleon. so I orderd it.
After receiving the book I was not dissapointed. It just did for me what it had to do. Inform me about uniforms of the Imperial Guard in a most likeble and very clear way. No pictures of paintings where you have to decifer and resolve the action to get a clear picture if possible of a uniform. Just a plain drawing with a subscript about the origin of the uniform i.e. period and or painting. If neccesary there is a page with details of hatgear, guns, etc. All the ranks and of that ranks the periods are taken in consideration. As a modeller and collector you can choose and define the uniform of a specific period. I was very pleased with it and used it to transform one of my models to a later period soldier without the fear of doing something wrong. The example given was as clear as glass (as a enthousiastic collector I have other reference books so I know it was all wright.)
In conclusion, it is a lovely book for its price and you will take it from your shelve to dream away by the pictures of the uniforms as you aske yourself what will your next model be.
