I actually enjoyed French Fields better than Fresh Fields, but it's still just fluff comedy. If it weren't for the two stars (who are wonderful) there would be no show at all. The ancillary characters range from very good, in the case of Mssr. Dax and Chantal; to terrible, in the case of their English neighbors the Trendles or their daughter Emma who over-act at every opportunity (much as Sandra did in Fresh Fields, but she was quite likable). Make no mistake, I will watch these shows again and likley again, but because of the engaging quality of the two stars and their relationship with one another, not because of any brilliant writing or acting which surrounds them. My favorite line from the entire show was a paeon to 'Allo 'Allo when Hester say "Good moaning" to a gendarme. Brilliant!
