4.0 out of 5 stars Simple instructions enticing you to cook delicious dishes, 21 Nov 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: French Cooking (Cook's Encyclopedia) (Paperback)
My boyfriend is French and a keen cook. All the classic dishes are here with a few delicous newcomers. Instructions with pictures make it easy and entice you to try every dish, something rare in most cook books. Even my mum is impressed (so she's getting a copy from me for Christmas) Only trouble now is, who will cook what dish first, the boyfriend or me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Easy to find ingredients., 15 Jan 2002
By K. Solheim "solheimk" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: French Cooking (Cook's Encyclopedia) (Paperback)
I love this cookbook! Each recipe uses ingredients that you can find in the U.S. Each recipe has a color photo and accompanying photos and tips to help you prepare the dish. The book is broken up into sections like "Eggs and Cheese," "Poultry and Game," and "pastries" to name a few. I have made three or four dishes and, even though I'm not well-versed in french cooking, I have gotten rave reviews from my friends and family. My favorite recipe is the "Twice-Baked Souffle" which you can make a day ahead and then bake with the sauce right before you serve. This book is reasonably priced and I'm advising all my friends to purchase it.

This is a great little book to add to your cookbook collection. It has a great selections of classic French recipies. There is also a picture of each dish as well, and a nice little section on the cheeseboard. I highly suggest this book. Even if you don't intend to cook from it, it is a very nice reference.
