3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, good basic collection 23 Nov. 2014

Some good recipes, but there is better and more thorough collections (e.g. the ones by Valerie Ferguson). Also, many of the recipes here require a slow cooker...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good concept but needs proofreading 17 Nov. 2013
By Kara Ault - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I like the photos and the recipe ideas. I appreciate the nutritional info, but there is no information on the number of servings a recipe makes, or the serving size. There are also errors. It needs proofreading. Example: the pork ribs recipe ends with the " shred chicken and return to sauce", which is from the orange chicken recipe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well photographed and written cookbook 17 Oct. 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

Easy Freezer Recipes published by Echo Bay Books is a beautifully photographed and written cookbook. You will find color photos with most, if not all the recipes, and nutritional information too. The recipes are varied and relatively easy to prepare.

Some of the recipes you will find in this cookbook include:

Orange Chicken

Cajun Chicken Casserole

Macaroni and Cheese

Enchiladas

Perogies

Blueberry Muffins

There is an interactive table of contents making navigation easy.

Recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars key points need to be addressed 7 Nov. 2013

I'm a prolific cook and i love to put food up -- whether it's canning, drying or freezing. Here is my take on this particular book.

I'll get the highlights out of the way first. A good handful of recipes with photos.

Things that cause this to fall short:

freezing in zipock bags equals freezer burnt food. if you want to really put up freezer meals, invest in a vacuum sealer. freze the item (with chicken broth I would do it in a bowl); transfer to vacuum seal bag; seal and label.

freezing in a plastic container. lay plastic wrap on the surface to avoid freezer burn. personally id take the frozen item out of the container, pop it in a vacuum seal bag and then seal properly.

Meals. I tyically use a foil dispisable pan. Lay plastic wrap directly on the surface to retard freezer burn. Wrapthe entire pan in aluminum foil. Label and freeze.

2.0 out of 5 stars DOESN'T LIVE UP TO THE TITLE 19 Feb. 2014
By WolfWillow - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book title is completely misleading - I was expecting it to be make-ahead or big-batch recipes that could be frozen for quick reheating later on evenings when cooking would take too long - thus saving me time. These recipes don't save time for me - they actually take up MORE time, and I haven't seen any monetary savings either. I would also like to know how these recipes save my health - they all use regular ingredients like meat, oil and sugar (hardly any vegetarian choices) - I don't see how these recipes are any healthier than others.

The recipes are fine - but the ribs are truly amazing. They go into the crock pot as pork ribs and come out chicken - WOW! If you're wanting to put out a professional cookbook, may I suggest thorough proofreading first? It's kind of important.

I didn't pay anything for this cookbook - but just because that is the case doesn't mean that I can't expect a publication that lives up to it's title, and that actually does the things it says it will do. The fact that it was free is not the point - it should still be done well and with excellence as its goal. If I had paid something for it, I would've asked for my money back.

Overall - the recipes are decent, but a more thoughtful, descriptive title and proper editing/proofreading are definitely needed here.

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty good 15 Jun. 2014

I am a frequent freezer meal maker, so I thought a free book with freezer meal recipes was amazing. There were quite a few recipes that I had not already found, considering this was free, I was surprised. There was about half of the book filled with things like muffins, pancakes, and other similar items that I would not consider meal worthy recipes.
