Product Description

She can't survive in his world; he can't stay sane in hers

A twenty-first century ice age dulls the magic that emanates from the earth. Shane Sullivan is a lone wolf above the freeze line. He has no desire to join the packs that range closer to the border, where feral instincts can turn a man into a monster. Not until the winter solstice, when he stumbles across a dying witch who needs his help to get back to her people—and her magic—in the south.

Nadia is a powerful woman in her own world, but she's been drained by her escape from captivity in a northern lab. She knows it's foolhardy to trust a werewolf, but he's her only chance to survive the vast white wilderness. The farther south they travel, the harder it is for Shane to keep the beast within under control, and as their mutual attraction intensifies, Nadia's no longer sure she wants him to.

Freeze Line 23 Dec 2011
By Sarah Gibson TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition
An ice age has split the world in two, above the freeze line the cold has dulled the earth's magic making it a safer place for werewolf Shane to live. The last thing he wants is the magic calling to his animal nature. Nadia is a witch who needs to be able to connect to the magic to survive, she was kidnapped and forced above the freeze line so that she was unable to protect herself using her magic. She may have escaped but she needs to find a way home and restore her energy levels or she won't survive. When Shane finds Nadia by the side of the road and discovers what has happened to her he offers to help get her back to the other side of the freeze line. As they approach their destination Nadia becomes stronger but Shane's wild side gets closer to the surface, can they fight the attraction that is growing between them? Do they even want to?

I was already a big fan of Moira Rogers so it was no surprise to me that I loved Freeze Line. With the apocalyptic setting this story is darker than the other novellas in the Winter Wishes anthology but I really enjoyed the world building and would happily read more stories in this world if it becomes a series. Shane and Nadia are both great characters and I love the way their relationship develops as the get to know each other. This was a sweet and sexy romance and one I'd definitely recommend.

Could not even finish it was so boring!!! 27 May 2011

I would like to start off by saying I have enjoyed all of Ms. Rogers novel that have red thus far. That would be to entire series of red rock pass, building sanctuary and the first of the bloodhounds series. They were all wonderful stories I enjoyed reading and reread them several times because she is just plain talented and i like her style.

With that being said, where did this one come from. It did not feel like her writing to me at all. It was incredibly slow and boring. I kept trying to push myself and force myself to finish the book, but it just kept getting worse and worse, finally I gave up just deciding it was just a dud, and deleted it from my kindle because it was just that bad. I would not recommend wasting you time or money on this one. But aside from Freeze Line, her other works are wonderful, I would suggest any of them!

Boring and predictable 6 Dec 2010

I received FREEZE LINE as part of the anthology Winter Wishes. I've enjoyed several of Moira Roger's books, most notably their RED ROCK PASS series. Unfortunately, this story was a miss for me.

In the new ice age where magic is alive and fed by the earth, Shane is a lone werewolf who lives above the freeze line to keep his wolf dormant. When returning to his cabin one day, he comes upon a frozen and wandering woman who he takes back to his cabin to save her from freezing. Nadia is a powerful witch who had been kidnapped and taken to a northern lab where her powers won't work due to the cold: she's slowly dying. To save Nadia, Shane helps her travel south, which only awakens his wolf.

Unfortunately, I don't have much good to say about this story mostly because it wasn't memorable and I've already forgotten so much of it. I know others will love this story, but I just couldn't connect with either character nor could I care about their troubles. I've read a few works by Moira Rogers, most notably their RED ROCK PASS series, so I did go into this story expecting to enjoy it; however, it just wasn't for me. The problem is I can't really put my finger on why it wasn't for me, which isn't helpful at all. Shane was the typical brooding Alpha Male who lost a loved one and, therefore, shuts everyone out. Nadia is the typical powerful witch who is arrogant in her knowledge and self-worth. Shane and Nadia follow the paranormal-romance stereotypical storyline where they must share a bed for warmth, where Shane intentionally hurts Nadia to push her away because he's attracted to her, where they lust after each other so that must mean they love each other, and where Nadia can use magic to solve all their problems. It just didn't interest me.

A simple story with superb worldbuilding! 29 Dec 2010
By Carole "The Romance Reviews" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
A breathtaking futuristic world, two lonely, heartsick protagonists who can't survive in the other's world, and the passion that drew them together.

A great book cover could set the tone of the story in the reader's mind, and this is what this book's cover did. Kudos to the artist and all the people responsible for this cover. While reading this fascinating story, the snowy expanse depicted in the cover, coupled with the author's descriptions, filled my mind and became the backdrop for this story to blossom.

Shane Sullivan is a werewolf, but he can't go too further south or his wolfish nature would erupt and it would be detrimental to the people, aka humans. Meanwhile, Nadia is a witch who needed the earth to fuel her magic, but she was betrayed and sold to the north, where thick snow blanketed the ground, the earth sleeps and ice formed in her core. Shane, a decent guy, volunteered to bring her as far as the borders so she could begin the way back home or someplace safe...

A simple story, but the worldbuilding is superb, featuring nature magic and the different ways it affected our protagonists. I like that there wasn't any magical solution that came out of the blue to solve the characters' problem toward the end, but their HEA was a product of compromise and love. The quiet, solemn tone of the novella befits its backdrop and the personalities of the characters, and it was because of that reason that the moments of violence and passion should stand out so starkly in comparison. Read FREEZE LINE and it would hold you spellbound.
