This book doesn't tell you anything new, in fact it misses out quite a bit of information found in better books. It seems to skim over the subject and also gives the impression of being rushed when written. Made for the American market UK readers take note!

HASH(0x9b2f01e0) out of 5 stars A Realistic Approach to Making It as a Freelance Writer 22 Nov. 2012
By Howy Kurtz - Published on Amazon.com

Great book! Beyond my expectations. This is probably one of the best books Iʼve read on freelance writing. The book is a short read, but that adds to the book's appeal. The author gets right to the point of the matter, with no fluff or filler, and that makes the length of it just enough.

The author shares down-to-earth advice on how to become a full-time or part-time freelance writer rapidly. You can become a full-time paid writer as soon as a few months from now if you are willing to work on the process. Or maybe you just want to earn some extra income working from home (or anywhere else you want!) in your spare time. That is possible too. This book will help you in both cases.

The author takes you through his own personal experience, from a corporate job to a successful freelance writing career, and shares everything heʼs learned along the way, the bad things and the good ones.

Among the topics discussed in the book Ethan Miller talks about some scam warnings, how to avoid negative thought processes that are holding you back, the skill sets you need as a freelance writer, how to make it as a creative writer, making it as a non-fiction writer, finding direct clients and keeping them for the long term, how to market your writing services, productive tips for fast writing and even some techniques to stay motivated for the long haul.

He also shares a reviewed list of the best content writing sites and bid sites, according to his own experience, along with his tips and best practices to generate a sustainable income.

The Internet has created an unprecedented opportunity in this industry. Websites have made it easy to connect clients to freelance writers, even if theyʼre far away from each other. As long as you have a computer and an Internet connection, today itʼs really simple to find writing jobs online.

Every single day there are more people making it as a freelance writer, working from anywhere they want and earning a good living doing so. Why not you? Everyone has to start somewhere. This is a good place to start. Recommended read.

This book is an excellent resource for someone who wants to make serious money writing. It covers the various opportunities and options available for a budding writer to really make a rewarding writing career.

The book details the different ways to make moeny with writing and it includes skill assessments and strategies in market research. It provides excellent reviews on the different online content brokers along with the benefits and disadvantages of each content site. I especially like the tips on how to market a writing service. Great book on freelance writing!

HASH(0x9afe06b4) out of 5 stars helpful 24 April 2014

Good overview of various freelance work. I could have used more details; author mentions whole genres like self-publishing in a single paragraph or two. I did find the part about copywriting detailed enough to be helpful and take action. The amount paid and how to build up clients sounded very realistic (you won't get rich!) but also encouraging. Style was clear and conversational. And no typos!!! I just wanted more details that I've read in other books about other genres of freelancing. For instance, in copywriter section he goes into depth of three sites, but in the bidding for work section he simply mentions thee sites and then gives an overview of what bidding for work entails.
In summary, the work was clear and well written, more of an overview of the field and I desired more details beyond the excellent section on copywriting. Still Well worth .99 cents.

HASH(0x9b697450) out of 5 stars Well Written Basic Guide 14 Jun. 2014

I didn't really find anything new in this writing guide but for someone who is just beginning to test the online waters as a freelancer, it might be worth a look.

I enjoyed the last part of the book most of all as it contained a number of good reminders of how NOT to procrastinate as a writer, staying motivated, fresh etc...again, nothing new but helpful as a "kick in the pants" how to get to the actual writing each day and not to waste time with other trivial online pursuits that are so easy to take up much to much valuable time, if we let them.
