Product Description

Product Description

Everybody has a broken night's sleep once in a while, but one in three adults suffer from prolonged insomnia at some stage in their lives. Sleeping pills may be recommended during a short-term crisis but according to the Buteyko method, sleep problems are caused primarily by the all-too-common phenomenon of over-breathing. A simple course of exercises, which anyone can learn in a week, could teach sufferers to control their breathing and bring sound sleep to the most chronic of insomniacs.

Great Book 19 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I find this book fascinating, the issues discussed - incredibly interesting. It's not about the insomnia itself only, its about the way we actually breathe. I have never thought about that before, although I always wonder how we depend so much on oxygen, if it's a poison and makes everything go rusty or rotted. Now I know better, after reading this book- its about the CO2, not about the Oxygen!
Strongly recommending, must read book.

This book presents a peculiar theory of insomnia (and a great many other ailments) without the support of lab tests or medical evidence. It amounts to a series of assertions that deep breathing causes all sorts of ailments, and that they can all be cured by training oneself to breathe more shallowly, and by a series of exercises involving exhaling and not breathing in for as long as possible. Avoid.

It really works! Take back your sleep-- and your life! AND stop snoring.. 26 Nov 2006
By M. R. Velez - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've struggled on and off with insomnia for the last 18 months. I'm genetically predisposed to it, am naturally anxious. I am an obsessive stress-case, who can't shut my mind off. The Breath Connection described and prescribed in the book really really works. I have read almost everything on sleeplessness, tried all the herbs: Valerian, skullcap, melatonin 300 MICROgram very low does that MIT has prescribed as the right dose. But nothing worked long enough. I cannot take the "non-addictive" pills my physician prescribed for me. Even the homeopathy drops my naturopath gave me would work temporarily and then boom! The sleeplessness would come back again.. I was feeling very despondent but didn't know if sleep clinics were going to be the answer. Plus I would probably never get to sleep in a sleep clinic. Breath Connection has mitigated my anxiety even the back and shoulder pains when staying late at work--and snoring! The first few days you will feel "unusually energetic and well" and if you have been often groggy and tired in the morning this feeling is a bit weird. On the 3rd day I was sleeping, and if you wake up at night, you just go back to sleep. It is an excellent book, also for snoring. I stopped snoring to the delight of long suffering boyfriend! It's so simple, I do not even know if I'm doing the method perfectly but it works. I write this for all the people suffering from insomnia I hope you find the solution like I did.
