Great people don't always make the greatest authors
on 18 January 2015
A very tedious read, great if you are into Burmese philosophy and military history. It was interesting, however, in that it made us (book club members) review our perceptions of The Lady. The common wisdom is that she is an infallible, heroic figure, but her book made us question who she really is, and her motivations. I still admire her, but question how she was able to throw away her entire family life with her husband and two young children to set herself up as the only possible leader of a country she had barely lived in, all in pursuit of what seems like an obsession with her father’s legacy.
