I have ordered this drive as it supposed to be able to read HD DVD-ROMs.
The description on the website reads as follows:

Freecom 33980 8x External BD-Combo Blu-Ray Drive - USB & Firewire scroll down to the nearly bottom of the page.
There is definitely no support for Toshiba's HD DVD format.
A HD DVD movie inserted into the drive was not recognized.
There is nothing on HD DVD support on the box nor in the manual, as well.
