I found this a handy little guide to finding my way around some of the e-book and audio book sources on the net. I might have found some of them myself eventually but frankly, it's worth spending a few pence to benefit from someone else's having done the research. A brief summary of each site's functions and good/weak points helps to indicate whether it's going to be useful. The instructions on downloading and transferring books to Kindle are brief and to the point, and I found them helpful. Useful for beginners.

As I could not afford a Kindle along with my fairly new laptop, I have downloaded Kindle for PC. I now have a wide choice of books from Amazons excellent library, and can spend many happy hours reading. Easy to use and I recommend trying it out, its a good way to have an extensive library. No more cluttered shelves.

I was so disappointed with this, I thought I would find out something which I didn't already know. If you browse on amazon you can find the page where amazon offers free classics along with lots of info on where to find other free books provided by other sources. This author literally copy and pasted most of what was already printed on amazon. I give a bit of credit to this author for suggesting a few links of their own and 2 stars for browsing on amazon and making words appear as if it is their own. Other than that it is a waste of money.

Written more for US market and unless you own some serious gear (or know what you are doing researching on the internet!) I wouldn't bother

The program "calibre" is suggested in the kindle guide as well as many websites to download public domain books. Read more
