Of all the ex-Guns N' Roses band members, Izzy Stradlin has been the most interesting to listen to until now (especially "117 degrees"). However, of all the records produced by ex GNR members this is by far the best. The closest in sound and spirit to 'Appetite For Destruction', this is a great rock n' roll record. As usual Slash's rhythm and solo guitar playing is fantastic. The one lousy ballad aside ("Back to the moment") every track is a killer, even if one or two are a little too similar to specific tracks from Aerosmith's classic 'Rocks' album - which just happen's to be Slash's favourite album. Given the amount of people complaining about the state of rock and metal at the moment, it amazes me that this wasn't a huge album.
Standout tracks? Try "Shine", "Mean Bone", "Life's sweet drug" with its excelent solo, and "The Truth". The upbeat nature of the majority of the tracks make this a fantastic album to play with a houseful of mates and a few beers.
