I love this book! I love cooking and have a wide collection of cookbooks. I was given this as a Christmas present after watching her television series (shown in NZ). I had already tried a few of the recipes from her show and not only were they delicious but very straightforward. It's quite a large book, with glossy photos of the dishes, which I find helpful when trying new recipes. The book has lots of menu ideas when cooking for groups and she gives many tips to help you adapt recipes. I also have one of her other books and the recipes are tried and true, she knows her stuff.

HIghly recommend the Bacon and Egg pie (a kiwi classic) delicious for picnics
The Best Ever Chocolate Cake is delicious, perfect for birthday parties as it feeds the five thousand. I made this for my Father-in-law's birthday and his whole office raved about it for weeks. You make this in one big bowl and one cake tin - minimum washing up.
The crumble topping is delicious
The Cloudberry cake is a non-bake cake perfect for hot summer days
The pork belly recipe is also delicious.

Her recipes do feed a lot of people, so I often halve them or save them for family gatherings. I know quite a few people with this book and feedback is always "Have you tried ....? It's delicious! I haven't really scratched the surface of all the recipes I want to try.

If you get a chance to watch her series, it's a lovely ode to New Zealand summers and the choice of fresh produce here. It's very inspiring despite her slightly strange accent, (think Kiwi who's lived in America). Most of the ingredients are readily available and she offers swap outs. Buy this book and try her recipes, you won't regret it.

I LOVE this book! If you are no supercook but love to make yummy food for your friends and family, this book will be your best friend.

I love the way the recipes don't need loads of tricky equipment or ingredients and everything I have made from it works beautifully and astonishes me( a not very super cook)by looking like the photo in the book AND tasting terrific.

Thanks so much Annabel Langbein for writing a recipe book for cooks, not chefs.

My only complaint is that my copy is getting very,very stained from so much use!

Was in Wanaka NZ whilst this was on TV there and couldnt wait to get home to the cooker in England to try out some of these recipes. They are all simple ingredients and not a bit complicated. The Ultimate Choc Cake was just that...fantastic! Am slowly working through the book and have not found a recipe we havnt loved yet. Must buy another one of Annabels. The series on TV had beautiful filming locations too.

After watching Annabel's cooking series based on this book on the UK GoodFood channel, I couldn't wait to get a copy of this book. The recipes are easy and so straight forward with ingredients one generally uses everyday or easy to obtain. The busy people's bread recipe is so easy and so yum - no kneading required. Just bung all the ingredients altogether, mix and bake in the oven! Highly recommend this book. Fantastic to cook from and mouthwatering to browse through.

This book has wonderful photo's and recipes, the recipes all seem straight forward - yet special. I found the desert section had the most eye catching recipes. I was invited last minute to a friends house(the day after the book arrived) so I quickly prepared the Ultimate Chocolate Cake - I am not a keen baker, but this cake was really fantastic, so moist and so quick, all the ingredients mix into one bowl, then into a cake tin, then to the oven. The Ganache topping simple and divine too!
Next I want to make The Strawberry Cloud Cake.
I also liked that through out the book there where a selection of menu plans where Annabel had used the recipes in the book to compliment each other (often a tricky task when inviting friends over) One combination I want to try is: (might change desert option though?)

Caramelised Onion and Feta Tart

Braised Oxtails with star Anise
Parsnip and Carrot Mash
Gingered Bok Choy

Ruby Roasted Pears with Creme Fraiche

Sure it doesn't go as far as Jamie's 30 minute meals to show how to cook everything together (timing etc), but a lot of her recipes also explain how to reheat, conserve and then serve, so things can be prepared ahead of time.
There are also recipes or ingredients that go on to be used in other recipes - all very interesting
A book I will cherish.

I totally love this book. I cherish my own copy and will be giving away many more as gifts. It is a beautiful book filled with gorgeous photos of all Annabel's down-to-earth food and her glorious surroundings and lifestyle beside Lake Wanaka, NZ. Annabel's friendly anecdotes welcome us to share her "piece of paradise" and make this book seem like a personal collection of recipes passed on from one friend to another. I've cooked about 12 of the recipes so far and all have been "so good", "so easy", and "so delicious"! I will never cook potatoes or beans the same again, and all the desserts I've tried have the wow factor! Even my very first attempt at souffles worked out well. Also the index is unfaultable and easy to use. I've been inspired to grown a few veg in my back yard and am totally enjoying the whole garden to table concept. Annabel gives us healthy recipes that are delicious and easy. This book has my total recommendation and I'm looking forward to her next recipe collection.
