Product Description

Sometimes falling in love is the most dangerous thing of all.

Blue is a thief who lives for adrenaline and danger. And when he meets Mick, a mercenary, he’s hit with a buzz of attraction like the rush of a high-rise job without a safety rope. But after making plans to get together, Mick leaves him hanging, and Blue vows never again.

A year later, Mick watches helplessly as Blue stumbles into the middle of one of Mick’s jobs. Risking his cover and their lives, Mick saves Blue and cares for him as he recuperates, but neither man has any idea how to handle the intimacy this forces them into.

Once Blue is safe, Mick redoubles his efforts to take down the drug lord responsible—and disappears. Blue goes after him, determined to return the favor and rescue the man he loves, no matter the cost.

SE Jakes is the alter ego of New York Times bestselling paranormal and romantic suspense author Stephanie Tyler.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved Blue 21 Dec 2013

I only write reviews when moved by really good content so here you go.

It started out with the Men of Honour series and this spin off is excellent. Many authors tend to lose something in the content over time but SE Jakes just gets better and better.

Mick and Blue were minor characters in the Men of Honour and Hell or High Water series' and Free Falling does not disappoint. Gritty, well written sometimes with a twist, always with passion. These books are not for the faint hearted or those who don't like MM reads. I do recommend to anyone thinking of reading these that they make more sense in the following order:
Read Men of Honour first now 6 books in the series as at Dec 2013, also Free Falling which is a one off but connected to characters in these books, then the two books currently in this HH series. Early in 2014 another spin off called Dirty Deeds is due out. So far these books have just got better and better and Ms Jakes is a prolific writer who doesn't keep her fans waiting long.

May seem odd characters to like ...a theif and a mercenary but i really loved this book. Their unusual relationship is fascinating to read and the m/m sex scenes are detailed and HOT,bordering on BDSM. If graphic m/m sex offends you this is not the book for you.
I have now read more by this author and they keep getting better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Free Falling 10 Dec 2012
By K. Branfield - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
Do you enjoy smokin' hot sex between two alpha males? Yes? Boy do I have a recommendation for you! Free Falling by SE Jakes is a lust-filled adventure that just oozes testosterone as Blue and Mick give in to their passionate desire for one another.

Blue and Mick are the type of heroes that I love. Strong, but with just a hint of vulnerability that makes them realistic and sympathetic. Both Blue and Mick have trust issues and the nature of their jobs forces them to keep free of emotional entanglements. Mick is overprotective and will go to any lengths to keep Blue safe. And Blue? He was so mischievous that I just could not help but love him.

Free Falling's plot is quite unique and beautifully executed. The story is fast-paced and a wonderful mix of emotions, action and incendiary sex. Some of the scenes are incredibly poignant and beautifully showcase the softer side of Blue. Mick's repartee with his co-worker Prophet is delightfully witty.

One of my favorite authors of BDSM M/M romance, SE Jakes once again delivers a credible story with characters that are flawed but immensely appealing. I am eagerly awaiting Prophet's book-he is deliciously enigmatic and I cannot wait to learn what makes him tick.

I received a complementary copy for review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot read 6 Dec 2012

Free Falling is the newest release by m/m author S.E. Jakes and it just took my breath away with its two sinfully sexy heroes, suspense and mind-blowing sex scenes. The first scene between Mick and Blue captured my attention right from the beginning and set the tone of their relationship to come. Both of these men have untold secrets and trust issues, but one thing for sure, they cannot deny their desire for one another, especially after Blue accidentally stumbles upon Mick in the middle of a job. A dire situation forces them to act on their mutual desire for each other sooner than expected and it was one of the hottest series of sex scenes I've read. Some might question the circumstances that led to it but it was out of their control. It was not just to satisfy their lust but to also do what was necessary to alleviate the suffering and need. This was the catalyst for them to finally admit their feelings for each other. Danger still surrounded them as Mick was still in the midst of finishing up his latest job. They must learn to trust each other and work together to escape with their lives and their love intact.

This story had action, drama, angst and suspense and the pace moved quickly without missing a beat. The two main characters were strong and fearless in what they they do best professionally, that of a mercenary and a thief yet flawed emotionally. I liked when on rare occasions, they showed their vulnerable side and one scene brought tears to my eyes. I also enjoyed the banter and dialogue that went on between Mick and secondary character Prophet that had me chuckling at times and lightened up the mood. Prophet was a mysterious character with little known background and I'm glad that Prophet will be getting his own story soon.

S.E. Jakes has become one of my must-read authors and I am looking forward to reading more books by this wonderful author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nicely done! 5 Dec 2012

**I received a free ARC of this book to review**

I really enjoyed "Free Falling", by S.E. Jakes.

While the story requires a bit of the old `suspension of disbelief' and the world building is minimal, the development of Blue and Mick's relationship is what really shines here. Mick works for "the good guys", and his protectiveness towards Blue, even in the face of danger, is endearing. After Mick saves Blue, one might assume Blue will remain the passive bystander in their relationship. But no, Blue has his own strengths and talents to bring to the table. Blue jumps right in and demands that Mick acknowledge him as an equal partner in their relationship.

The sex scenes were hot, well done, and they don't bog down the story. S.E. Jakes even manages to deliver the "You can only be cured of this malady via us having sex" scenes without it being cheesy or me rolling my eyes.

Blue's relationship with his sister was well done as well.

I tend to judge a book by how much I can immerse myself/escape into it, as it were. In this case, "Free Falling" caught me from the beginning.

I also look forward to Prophet's upcoming story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too fast on the love, but perfect everywhere else 8 Sep 2013

Blue and Mick have crossed path a couple of times. Their attraction for each other is mutual, but neither one has acted on it. Not even when Blue reluctantly complies to the terms of a bet he made with Mick. When they meet again a year later, Blue finds himself in the middle of Mick's latest mission, Only now he is the victim and Mick has to risk everything to save him. What transpires brings them closer than they ever thought, but once again luck isn't on their side when Mick fails to return from a job. With Mick's friend, Prophet, Blue goes after Mick.

I loved the characters that were introduced in this story. Both Mick and Blue were interesting characters to get to know. I only wish I could have gotten to know them better though. I enjoyed their interactions, but felt that there was something missing in their story. From the start I was curious about them. They seemed like total opposites, but perfect for each other. When they started their interactions and during that time that Mick 'looked' out for Blue after getting hurt I was more than curious to see where the connection that was developing between them ended up. And just when I was settling down into their story, WHAM! they're already professing their love.

Where's the doubt? the hesitation? I wanted to see some more emotions from them. I wanted them to struggle, especially Blue. For such an independent, strong man he gave in to easily in my opinion. Mick at least resisted and that made for some interesting reading. His struggle with his feelings towards Blue and whether or not to reveal his secrets kept me intrigued as to how it would all play out, so I was disappointed when it resolved itself so easily.

Other than the 'insta-love' aspect of the story, I found the story to be well-written and enjoyable. The sex was phenomenal, the characters were alpha-male delicious and the fast-paced action scenes entertaining. I enjoyed the action-adventure part of the story, especially seeing Blue, Mick and Prophet in action.

I read this story because my friend Lisa advised it on her review of Catch a Ghost, the first book in the Hell or High Water series by S.E. Jakes. I'm glad I followed her advice. In this story I got to know more about the Extreme Escapes organization and its members, which helped a great deal when I set out to read Catch a Ghost later on.

All in all, a great introduction to the Hell or High Water universe for someone who plans to follow up on the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars A thief named Blue, A merc named Mick - What's not to love? 17 July 2013
By Attention Is Arbitrary M/M Book Reviews - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this after reading and reviewing S.E. Jakes Catch a Ghost. My 4 star review for Catch a Ghost is here: [...]

I suppose I should have read this first, but I do that sort of thing often. Anyway, this was enjoyable, but a little rushed, choppy maybe. Somehow though, that made it a very quick read and satisfied my need to know where the M/C, Prophet, in Catch a Ghost comes from.

This story is about Blue and Mick and how they come together. Trust me, they come together very well. There is a bit of action here, a bit of relationship building, but it's the sexy sex scenes that really reveal the story. I didn't get too worried about them, but I had a surprising emotional connection to Blue's sister that I didn't expect.

Anyway, this isn't a full review, just some thoughts because I'm going to read the whole Men of Honor series so that I don't miss a thing. My hormonal state is demanding rough, tough, gritty right now and it looks like S.E. Jakes can deliver that for me. Thank goodness.
