I bought this book for my nephew who was struggling with his reading. I was concerned that pushing him to read and making it a chore would 'demonise' books for him, making them seem like hard work rather than fun. So by having a story book with no words, there was no pressure on him to read. Books remained fun - not hard work, or a dreaded embarrassment.
The entire book is beautifully illustrated for the 'reader' to make up their own story. And every time can be a different adventure! The only limitation is the imagination of the child! It is such a simple idea, yet offers so much. Why there aren't more books like this for children, I simply don't understand. Any sort of learning should be fun so the pupil wants to keep coming back for more, and this book offers that for sure!
I have to say, he is now an excellent reader, who delights in showing off his skills to whoever will listen! This year I bought him his first 'grown-up' book (mostly words, hardly any pictures), and a word game. He loved both! So if your youngster is struggling with their reading, I can't recommend this highly enough, to take the pressure off and keep things fun!
