Amazon.co.uk Review

After 11 years in development hell and screenplay drafts by 13 different writers, the long-awaited smackdown of Freddy vs Jason finally arrived in cinemas in 2003. After making their respective debuts in Friday the 13th (1980) and A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger, replacing long-time Jason performer Kane Hodder) and razor-gloved Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) square off in a slasher-franchise combo-deal that only their most devoted fans will appreciate; it turns out this is a lightweight match in which nobody wins.

It's an average entry in the histories of these horror icons, comparable to half of their previous sequels, and Bride of Chucky director Ronny Yu satisfies purists with plenty of gushing blood and mayhem when Freddy recruits Jason to slice 'n' dice the ill-fated teens who've forgotten Freddy's once-formidable reign of terror. While it logically connects the gruesome legacies of Nightmare's Elm Street and Friday's Camp Crystal Lake, this horror hybrid is shockingly uninspired. It briefly peaks when Freddy gives the unconscious Jason a dream-world pummelling, but ultimately, their showdown's a letdown --Jeff Shannon

This film was a long time comming and when Friday The 13th & A Nightmare On Elm Street Fans joined forces for this what can only be explained as an amazing combination of horrific, thrilling and well written & acted film.

Robert England (Freddy Kruger) + Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees) going head to head for the thrill of the kill, it can only mean a bloody battle will ensue. Mixed in this film is lots of dark comedy lines.

If you want the prefect mix of thrills and spills with a hint of comedy with a solid story this film is defently for you.

Hands down this film is the best of both film series a must see.

Don't belive any of the rubbish reviews this film gets from those moron critic's or people who expect perfection in a genre that works off improvisation and well constucted vivid fantasy imagination.

5/5 If you have not seen this film yet now is the time to buy it on blu-ray and treat yourself and for long time fans it's also an awesome addition to the HD collection & at this price is a must.

Audio/Visual quality of the blu-ray is good, but not mind blowing. Significant improvement over the DVD though. The film itself is good, respects both franchises and there is even a decent plot, which I wasn't expecting. It's not scary at all, but the action is really well done and the whole film delivers what is expected of it. Extras are plentiful, although quite light on actual content.

Freddy vs Jason 3 Jan 2011
Format:DVD
Good, good film. Very gory, not enough storyline but that doesn't really matter.
This film ties together the main plots of all 6 original Freddy Films (excluding the remake and New Nightmare) and all original Jason films (excluding remakes and Jason X)

Freddy puts Jason to use killing teens in Springwood. Parents assume Freddy is behind it and Freddy's dead memory gets remembered, therefore bringing Freddy's memory back to life so he can kill and kill again.

Following this film was a successful graphic novel sequel: Freddy vs Jason vs Ash; which brought new scope to all three franchises and give an interesting take on exactly what Freddy and Jason are and why they never, ever, ever die.

This film is a must have classic and at such a good price. DVD features are quite interesting and Freddy's one liners are just as good as Sean Connery's in his Bond films.
