From Amazon.co.uk

After 11 years in development hell and screenplay drafts by 13 different writers, the long-awaited smackdown of Freddy vs Jason finally arrived in cinemas in 2003. After making their respective debuts in Friday the 13th (1980) and A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger, replacing long-time Jason performer Kane Hodder) and razor-gloved Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) square off in a slasher-franchise combo-deal that only their most devoted fans will appreciate; it turns out this is a lightweight match in which nobody wins.

It's an average entry in the histories of these horror icons, comparable to half of their previous sequels, and Bride of Chucky director Ronny Yu satisfies purists with plenty of gushing blood and mayhem when Freddy recruits Jason to slice 'n' dice the ill-fated teens who've forgotten Freddy's once-formidable reign of terror. While it logically connects the gruesome legacies of Nightmare's Elm Street and Friday's Camp Crystal Lake, this horror hybrid is shockingly uninspired. It briefly peaks when Freddy gives the unconscious Jason a dream-world pummelling, but ultimately, their showdown's a letdown --Jeff Shannon

Product Description

Get ready for the ultimate showdown! It’s been nearly ten years since Freddy, from the Nightmare On Elm Street series, invaded people’s dreams to exact his deadly form of revenge and murder. But now, his memory has been systematically erased by a town determined to put an end to Freddy once and for all. Until, that it, Freddy resurrects Jason, the equally iconic madman from the Friday The 13th series. Jason is the perfect means for Freddy to once again instill fear on Elm Street and start a new reign of terror. But as the bodies begin to pile up, he discovers that Jason isn’t willing to cease his murderous ways and step aside so easily. Now, with a terrified town in the middle, the two titans of terror enter into a horrifying showdown of epic proportions.

2.0 out of 5 stars You'd think years of planning would pull off 1 Aug 2012

Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood was originally meant to be Freddy vs Jason but disagreements between Paramount and New Line caused it to be in development hell. However once New line got the rights to Jason they gave us a teaser to Freddy vs Jason's confirmation at the end of Jason Goes to Hell. Years later it finally happened and the end result was a disaster! -_-

First off, Friday fans had taken a liking Kane Hodder as Jason but he was replaced due to his height even though Kane is significantly taller than Robert Englund this caused many fans to feel betrayed as they wanted to see Kane fight Freddy. The story was very weak, the most important part the battle between the 2 was very lame indeed how they fly across the room, and being used as a pinball ball literally with sound effects and everything. The movie was never going to be good but they could've done better than this. Personally I think facing Freddy was a bad choice I mean Jason vs Michael Myers or Jason vs Leatherface would've probably worked a little better.

1.0 out of 5 stars What Happened? 25 Aug 2012

I must confess to being very disapppointed with this movie. With two of the foremost titans of horror inolved in one of the most anticipated films ever I was expecting big things. Unfortunately what you get for wasting your money and time is a completely pointless exercise in how to wreck two movie franchises in one go! OK so it's a Freddy/Jason film, but the story is dire and given the amount of time it took to make the film you would have thought at some point a decent idea would have evolved. Unfortunately not! A real low mark for two horror icons I'm afraid and definitely one to avoid.

2.0 out of 5 stars Freddy v Jason 20 Mar 2004
Format:DVD
hmm well i dont even know where to start! ok well ive been a freddy fan for years, i have all the movies and love him as a character (even though he is a child murderer!) he has a great sense of humour and if his face wasnt so burnt and gross and if he changed his clothes once in a while i wouldnt actually mind him as a boyfriend hehehe, jason is boring to me, he dosnt say anything and all he does is just appear out of nowhere to slash someone to bits, ive never really liked friday the 13th because its just so boring, thats why i like freddy so much, he plays around with peoples emotions, finds out what scares them and toys with them for a while whilst making his usual witty remarks, i enjoyed 1,3 and 6 of the nightmare on elm street movies the best, 2 is total rubbish!!

anyway this Freddy v Jason movie i was so looking forward to watching and when i did... well i still dont know what to say! im soooo disappointed! there could've been a better storyline for starters although some parts were quite good, i guess its obvious that no one would would win as such as they've both resurrected as many times as i can remember (just look at all the sequals!!) they've tried killing them both in everyway possible but still they come back for more! i thought freddy had gone for good in part 6 (the final nightmare) but then he came back in wes cravens new nightmare and then this movie, and i guess i really wanted freddy to win as he's my favourite, Freddy v Chucky would've been better or should i say funnier (yeah i know u want horror not wit but i like a bit of comdey in a horror movie hehe!) oh well we're bound to see freddy again soon, til then i'll still have the disappointment of this movie etched on my memory! over and out..

What a great idea this was. A battle between Freddy and Jason. Who wouldn't love this?! Now all they need to make is a sequel.
