Product Description

The sad and premature death of Freddie Mercury in 1991 took from the world probably the finest performer of all-time. He must certainly be ranked alongside Valentino, Monroe and Sinatra - and only Michael Jackson ever came close within the confines of pop and rock. But Freddie was so much more than just a superb front-man, magnetic stage presence and outstanding vocalist. A songwriter of considerable genius, a highly regarded musician, a musical arranger of enormous imagination and clearly defined flair and - crucially- one of the most loved personalities to ever grace a stage. This film is a tribute to a great man, 20 years after the tragic circumstances of his passing. Featuring contributions from his closest friend and colleagues plus fellow musicians and the finest critics, writer and broadcasters, the film also includes much archive footage, interviews and news reports from the man himself and with the group who so expertly co-created the Queen experience - once witnessed, never forgotten. Still as popular today as he was in his glory years, Freddie Mercury was a once-in-a-generation personality whose life, albeit short, was one which touched those of millions of others across the globe.

5.0 out of 5 stars ESSENTIAL FOR ANY FAN 5 Dec 2011
There has been much said already about the great Freddie Mercury, but few films come close to rivaling this in giving the definitive overview of his life. It looks into his life with great detail, and with the help of a great supporting cast of real credible sources, offers new perspectives and insight. Watching this underlines just what a great talent Freddie was. Sadly gone but never forgotten.

2.0 out of 5 stars Be careful - it's old documentary 7 Nov 2011
Be careful - it's not new documentary. It's re-edition of old documentary Queen under review 1946-1991 The Freddie Mercury story. Silver and Gold deceived customers many times, selling old Chrome Dreams videos as new documentaries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific 19 Mar 2013
The story of the greatest performer the world has ever known came to a sudden halt with the death of Freddie in 1991, and this film shows why Queen were the greatest band ever, but more importantly what a true original Freddie Mercury was. The DVD is funny sad tragic all mixed together but explains how the band came through despite the threatened breakup rows and ultimately pulled together around a dying man to give us some of their finest work towards the end.The film actually covers the entire story of Mr Mercury, with and without Queen We will never see the like of this maverick again and this DVD is a great tribute to both Queen and Freddie, a must for every rock fan.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible 8 Jan 2013

This DVD is really bad considering there are far superior documentaries of Queen and Freddie out there. It looks like it's been made by 1st year media students. The people being interviewed are from Queen tribute bands and music journalists totally irrelevant to Freddie, his life and Queen. The worst part of the DVD is some 'footage' of Freddie which has literally been recorded on a camera from a VHS video. Don't buy this, pay more and get more.

3.0 out of 5 stars This is not a new DVD 29 Mar 2012

This is Freddie Mercury in Review 1946-1991 by Chrome Dome. I'm not sure why they keep repackaging and renaming the same information. If you've seen the first one, don't waste your time or money. Thankfully I checked this one out of the library and discovered I already had the original one at home. I like the video, I just wanted something new.
