Well worth while 6 July 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This DVD has a combination of tracks from an open-air concert at an enormodrome, with surprisingly good sound and an excellent backing band, and from a TV special with rather muffled sound. Never mind - King is on good form in both cases, smiting the Gibson 335 to great effect with his trademark thumb and index-finger picks and in good voice, too. You are 35 years too late to catch this legendary bluesman live, so this DVD is probably the next best thing.

Blues At Its Best 4 May 2011
Format:DVD
Freddie King is possibly the most influential guitar player in history. He paved the way for guitarists like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Jimmy Page, who paved the way for generations to come.

This dvd is a must buy for anyone that likes music, you get to see the King do what he does best, playing the blues the way it should be done. With his ferocious guitar playing and thunderous vocals you cant help but get caught in the emotion of every song. You can clearly see the emotion and feeling he puts into every guitar lick and every word he sings. Absolutely Amazing!!!!!

Texas Flyer 26 Sep 2003
By carl sperry - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
This may be the best DVD that features Freddie King yet released in terms of over all song content. Featuring footage from the Sugarbowl concert and also bonus footage from an LA recording session. The LA footage is available on the CD "Key to the Highway" although the audio is poor on the CD it is better on the DVD. Look for his European concert DVD released later this year. Track list: Sugarbowl concert; Big Legged Woman, Aint Nobodys Business, Tore Down, Key to the Highway, Boogie Chillin, Have you Ever Loved a Woman, Goin Down, LA concert; Have You Ever Loved a Woman, Look over Yonders Wall, Aint Nobodys Business, Whole Lotta Lovin.

Cutaway Hell 4 Jan 2004
By Michael Mcclure - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
The playing on this DVD is superb, rating 5 stars, but the constant and annoying cutaways, sometimes on each beat, are unnerving, and made me close my eyes to avoid dizziness. This is such a shame, as watching Freddie's face as he plays is a trancendental experience. Also, there's almost something wrong about a blues show in blinding daylight. The LA bonus songs are better, that version of Have You Ever Loved a Woman putting Eric to shame, and the camera barely roving. We're lucky to have any Freddie live footage, as it is superior to his studio work.

Definitive and very powerful. Signature tone exemplified. 23 Aug 2005
By Bruce C. Patterson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Four songs into this concert I am already declaring it the best Freddie King recording I have ever heard. It's not in a surround format, but it still sounds better than I expected for a 1972 outdoor recording. Fans of his studio albums will likely agree that the part of his songs you wait for is the all-too- short solo in the middle. Here these are stretched longer than you will see on any of those television recordings (vide infra) Freddie King always left me wanting more out of every song; in this performance he delivers it consistently. Even on the bonus TV songs, that fat Gibson tone cuts through the limitations of time and stings so good. 5 stars for a legend at the top of his game.
