Walt Disney might have decided to revamp this movie, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, but this is the real deal, Jodie Foster as Annabel, a bright young girl who is finding it hard to deal with braces and school life; and Barbara Harris, as beautiful Mrs Andrews; who heads the household.
When Annabel and Mrs Andrews have an argument - they say out loud they wish they were each other, and low and behold, Annabel ends up being her mother, and visa versa. This really freaks young Annabel out, but she soon realises how difficult it is to be a housewife, and Mrs Andrews soon realises how hard it is to be a teen in the 70s.
This is much better than the remake, and is good fun. Jodie is excellent as Annabel, and the rest of the cast do a fine job. I really enjoyed the final scene with all the action, but the lead up to it all really is good fun. I like the way they made this - to remind both parties they both don't have an easy life and that things can be difficult at times.
Definitely worth renting.
