Format:Audio CD
I could go on about who Shel was, and his other credits, but that's not important. What is important is the content of this CD - an absolute humdinger that runs the gamut of dubious subject matter, lyrical storytelling and laughter as part of the take.
Shel's voice is brilliantly expressive, sliding up and down the range from blues singer to pantomime dame and everything in between, with back-up from his old friends with Dr Hook, and even The Man in Black himself. Every song is catchy, most are genuinely funny, and there are even one or two that I play to my English class at school.
I don't believe anyone else could write songs about vd, 'dirty flicks', drugs, s&m and the peculiar 'gift' of Stacy Brown - a range of topics, you'll admit, and make each song funny, engaging and of such high musical quality. This man, sadly departed, was a great unsung hero of songwriting - a true talent for the irreverent blessed with a comedian's eye for the absurd and a talent for songwriting that matches anyone before or since.

Just so long as you are not offended by non-politically-correct humour, you cannot fail to enjoy this album which has certainly stood the test of time. Shel's excruciating lyrical wit, coupled with one of the very best and tightest rock bands of any era, make for a stunning and irresistable combination that will lift the spirits on any occasion. I am so glad I have now been able to replace my old worn-out vinyl copy which has been a treasured companion through innumerable scenes for nearly three decades. Just see if you can get through a whole track without at the very least breaking out into a broad grin. If your ribs are not aching by the end of the whole album, make an appointment to see your brain care specialist as there is something definitely wrong with your giggle cortex. Enjoy!

I loved this album when I was at school (didn't let my mum hear it though!). I'm very pleased to see it available on CD now. I recommend it to anyone who likes great songs and isn't too easily offended.
