Book Description

When the carnival came to Portstewart in the summer of 1973, it was to change the life of Marie Stanton forever. Still barely a child herself, she became pregnant. Ostracized by her family and friends, she vows to raise the child herself, but the boy is not normal. He has unnatural powers that make him a danger to others. Through his childhood and teenage years his powers increase with his rage and torment.

Nowadays his name is whispered in darkness, striking fear into those who would hurt the innocent.

Fear the night… for it belongs to him.

More About the Author

Philip Henry was born in 1974. He first started writing sketches while studying Performing Arts. After that he moved on to short stories and a couple of failed attempts at movie scripts. During long shifts at one of the more boring jobs he had, he began making notes for a novel, which he then wrote on his days off. That novel, Vampire Dawn, was released in 2004 and proved so popular it was extended into a trilogy with Vampire Twilight in 2007 and Vampire Equinox in 2009.

Mind's Eye, a novel about the monsters of high school, was released in 2006 to great critical acclaim, as was Freak, the story of a boy like no other, released in 2008, and Bleeding in 2010.

My Ivory Summer, Philip's first novel without a supernatural element, was short-listed for the Self-Published Book of the Year 2012.

Philip continues to write novels, screenplays and short stories, all based around his home on the North Coast of Ireland.

Brilliant book could not put it down!
My only question: Will you be writing a further book about Freak? Surely the storylines are endless.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and it was fantastic. I couldn't put it down and was more than I expected it to be. One not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read! 2 Jan. 2010
Fell in love with this story from the start, couldn't put it down and read it in a day. Very believable and lovable characters, funny in places and sad and very emotional in others. A few twists and turns that will you leave you in shock. Overall very well written and put together, in some places it reminded me of a prelude to a superhero story but that does not take away from its originality.
