Amazon.co.uk Review

Frasier picked up its second series with another round of comedy as intelligent as its pompous title character. Fortunately, the sniping between Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) and his father, Marty (John Mahoney), that took up a lot of the first series is mostly past, and the crack ensemble was ready to roll in a number of memorable episodes. Frasier tries to set up Daphne (Jane Leeves) with the new station manager in "The Matchmaker", Frasier, Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and Marty go fishing in "Breaking the Ice", Frasier and Niles jump into politics in "The Candidate", the team of Frasier and Roz (Peri Gilpin) breaks up ("Roz in the Doghouse") and Frasier and Niles open a restaurant in "The Innkeepers". It was Pierce's Niles who emerged as a star in the second series, lusting after Daphne, learning about parenthood in "Flour Child" and challenging a Bavarian fencer for the hand of his ever-absent wife, Maris, in the comic tour de force "An Affair to Forget". Pierce picked up a well-deserved first Emmy and the show repeated its first-series Emmys for comedy series and lead actor. Frasier's dates included Jobeth Williams (whom he takes on a disastrous getaway to Bora Bora), Shannon Tweed and Tea Leoni. Other guest stars were Nathan Lane and, from his original show, Cheers, Bebe Neuwirth and Ted Danson. --David Horiuchi

Season 4: Vol 1:

This forthcoming Boxset contains some of the very best Frasier episodes ever made including Kelsey Grammer's personal favourite "Our Father Whose Art Ain't Heaven".
Highlights from this boxset are without a doubt "Two Mrs Cranes and Mixed Doubles".
If you are a fan of Frasier and the gang's famously hilarious misunderstandings, this is the boxset to get!!!!

The first 12 episodes from the season are as follows:

Episode 4.01 - The Two Mrs Cranes

Daphne tries to let ex-fiancee Clive down again easily by pretending to be married to Niles, with Frasier now separated from Maris, while Martin is an astronaut. Needless to say, chaos reigns.....

Episode 4.02 - Love Bites Dog

Roz sets up her friend Sharon with Frasier, but she takes a shine to Bulldog instead, but when she dumps him, he becomes so distraught that Frasier has to take over his show. Meanwhile, Daphne and Martin search for new shoes and Niles places an ad to try and attract more patients.

Impossible Dream

Frasier is haunted by a recurring erotic dream involving him, a seedy motel and KACL's restaurant critic Gil Chesterton. What does it all mean....?

A Crane's Critique

While Frasier and Niles try to track down reclusive author T.H. Houghton after spotting him in the street, it is Martin who actually meets him and makes friends with him. Of course, the Crane boys are ecstatic at this and even more so when Mr Houghton accidentally leaves his new manuscript at Frasier's apartment.....

Head Game

Niles fills in for Frasier at KACL and gets roped into helping floundering basketball star Reggie McLemore by Bulldog. After a quick session, Reggie's game improves but Reggie believes it was because he touched Niles' head leaving Niles no alternative but to try and talk to him again.

Mixed Doubles

After Joe dumps Daphne, Niles feels the time is right for him to tell her his feelings for her, but Frasier convinces him to wait at least a day for her to get over Joe. This gives Roz ample time to take Daphne to a singles bar and introduce her to Rodney - who appears to be Niles' doppelganger in almost every way.....

A Lilith Thanksgiving

The Crane clan travel to Boston so that Frasier can join Lilith in trying to get Frederick into an exclusive school, leaving Martin and Niles to look after Frederick. Not a good idea.....

Our Father Whose Art Ain't Heaven

Martin buys Frasier a painting he said he liked at Le Cigare Volone, trying to do something nice for his son. There's only one problem - Frasier was lying in order to get a table, but can't seem to find a way to tell his father the truth...

Dad Loves Sherry, The Boys Just Whine

After Maureen breaks up with Martin, he asks out someone he's had his eye on - Sherry Dempsey. Much to Frasier and Niles' horror, she's a loud, brassy banjo-playing waitress. Martin really likes her, but Frasier and Niles cover up their true feelings - that is, until Sherry takes Daphne's ticket to Niles' awards banquet, forcing them to say something to their father.

Liar! Liar!

Martin is appalled after Frasier admits he set off the school fire alarm and blamed it on the school bully, who got thrown out of school. Out of guilt, Frasier tries to track him down and find out if his actions affected his life in any way.

Three Days Of The Condo

The people running Frasier's building are making his life hell, so decides to take action. However, everything he does seems to make matters worse....

Death And The Dog

Martin calls in a dog psychiatrist to help a depressed Eddie, much to Frasier and Niles' amusement. However, his diagnosis that Eddie is picking up negative vibes from everyone around him causes the Crane clan to assess their own lives.

Why not add this set to the rest of your Frasier collection now, You won't be dissapointed!!!!!

Highly recommended - some of the most well constructed and comic episodes are included in the DVD - the intricate classic 'Matchmaker',the farcical 'Innkeepers', and the unforgettable 'Agents in America', to name three of many triumphs. Each displays a difference in approach, but each delivers wit, compassion and a number of lines worth tucking away for future quotation.
Now that the series has finally finished, what pressure can be applied to Paramount to accelerate the dvd-ing of the rest of the series?

The second series of Frasier contains some of the finest episodes of all - the matchless 'Matchmaker', the incomparable 'Agents' and the farcical 'Innkeepers'. What is compelling is whilst each is constructed so differently, each delivers the highest quality. Another key component of this is that the five main characters are superbly backed by a cracking support cast.

Highly recommended - as is the thought that Paramount should extract the digit and issue the rest on DVD

Frasier: Series 2 - Review
Excellent & witty writing as always. Plenty to watch (26 episodes) and all very funny. Tightly written with nothing extraneous - bears a second , third & fourth viewing.

Probably the best series of 'Frasier'
Arguably the finest of all the 'Frasier' series, with the Crane brothers at their most pompous and puerile. All 24 episodes of the second series, and no dud. Read more

It's just going to take me some time to climb down off this particular...
The second season of 'Frasier' is almost as good as its first outing, with the characters now established and the actors performing with increased conviction and confidence. Read more

Maybe it's my fault?
'Frasier' must have been in its seventh or eight season before I'd even seen it, as I tend not to watch American programmes. Read more
