Product Description

With its witty dialogue, sophisticated character development, and classic slapstick situations, Frasier is perhaps best described as the thinking man’'s Friends. Taking centre stage is pompous radio psychiatrist Dr Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), whose phone-in show serves as much an outlet for his neuroses, as it does a public service for the people of Seattle. Clever intersecting storylines feature a brilliant ensemble cast, including his prim and proper brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce), their gruff retired-cop father Martin (John Mahoney), live-in home care worker Daphne (Jane Leeves), brassy radio producer Roz (Teri Gilpin), and a charismatic Jack Russell terrier named Eddie, with whom Frasier has regular staring contests but never wins. This collection presents all 23 episodes of the show’s Emmy Award-winning sixth series--including the classic episode ‘Merry Christmas, Mrs. Moskowitz’, which finds Frasier pretending to be Jewish in order to win over his new girlfriend's mother.

`Frasier' is without a doubt one the greatest comedies to come out of the US and Season Six is no exception.

Continuing straight on from the events at the end of Season Five - the staff at KACL are all jobless after it has been taken over to be a Latino music station.

Frasier gets heavily depressed during his unemployment which results in him becoming overweight, believing that he has a curse and some hilarious interviews with other radio and TV stations. He also meets some great characters in Season Six including his old pal from Cheers, Woody and also Frasier's new nemesis at KACL, bitter and nasty psychiatrist Dr Nora.

Frasier's brother Niles Crane also faces a major slump in his life in Season Six. If going through a financially crushing divorce with Maris isn't enough, the woman that he loves, Daphne Moon begins to date and gets engaged to Niles' lawyer.

The whole season focuses on some depressing issues but doesn't fail to bring the laughs that are expected when watching this side-splitting show.

This series includes classic episodes like "Dial M for Martin" and "Three Valentines" (Niles' scene is one of my favourites ever) that you can now watch over again and again. I can't wait to get Season Seven now.

5.0 out of 5 stars A long awaited release and well worth the wait 12 Feb 2007
By M. D. P. Meechan VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
Frasier season 6 marks a turning point in the life of TV's favourite shrink, as it begins with him newly unemployed, following the changes made by the new owners of radio station KACL (which now focuses on Latino music 24 hours a day). Gaining weight and feeling unwanted, Frasier tries to reverse his failing fortunes, with varying degrees of success. Meanwhile, brother Niles is feeling the financial strain of divorcing his unseen wife Maris, and has to adapt to a surprise new lifestyle which has to be seen to be believed! Can the Crane brothers ever get back their familiar lifestyles? Other storylines in this season include the appearance of one of Frasier's old buddies from Cheers; a new nemesis for Frasier in the form of viper-tongued Dr. Nora; and a major development in the Niles and Daphne, will-they-won't-they plotline. The sixth season contains the following episodes:

5.0 out of 5 stars About time 20 Mar 2007
By Mr. David C. Halliday TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
At long last season 6 is about to be released, 2 years after its DVD release in America and some 8 years after it was on telly!

Season six is a good season but not great. Still for those who have been waiting so long there is much to enjoy, 'Good grief' shows Frasier at his lowest ebb, fat and unhappy at his unemployment. Having been urged his brother to "let it all out" against their dads advice, its hilarious to watch Niles' futile attempts to shut off the water works!

'The seal who came to dinner' is a surreal descent into lunacy as the 2 hapless brothers try to stage a society soiree with a rotting seal stuck outside.

'Dr. Nora' is a fans favourite with a self righteous radio presenter giving Frasier grief until he unwittingly unleashes her past upon her!

'To tell the truth' is a classic where all involved lie to one of Daphne's old boyfriends from England in order to save her from him but when she changes her mind it inevitably goes horribly wrong.

Although not the strongest season the truth is that there are no unfunny Frasiers and even theleast of them leave most other shows struggling to get anywhere near.

The scriptwriting was as good as its ever going to get for comedy and the acting by all involved was of a very high standard, even Moose the dog playing Eddie was excellent.

As late a release as this is if you are one of the army of Frasier fans out there and you haven't already bought the region 1 release then it really doesn't make any difference what any review says does it? You've probably already got this on pre-order and quite rightly so. If you haven't already seen the show,(where have you been hiding?), then start with season 1 and see what all the fuss has been about. This is one of the greatest shows, comedy or otherwise, that television has ever seen.
