I purchased this dictionary for my 12 yrs old son , who was having difficulty with spellings. The voice feature is very good but the visual effects for every word entry are some time irritating for him. Does not have much spellings/words either especially as he is in 6th grade going to secondary school. But I would still recommend it especailly for primary school students as all the words are spoken with their meanings along with the help menu , so I think it can make life easy for many kids who find dictionaries a frightening area. The rhyming words are also very good feature.I wish Franklin will make a dictionary with similar features only with full vocabulary and an adult look.

This product would be great for an American child. The words are spelled in the American way (eg color) and some normal British words such as "lorry" are not in the dictionary. You can add words to "my list" but they are then stored separately from the main dictionary. The word games are a good idea, but they have unfortunately included "tic tac toe" (= noughts and crosses) which results in our son playing that more than the word games. Also you have to choose whether to play the games based on the American dictionary or on "my list". Despite all this, the gadget is still of use and is well made, hence the 3 stars.

I bought this product for my daughters 6 and 7 with the intention of giving them more confidence in creative writing.The machine is easy to use but most of the words they tried to spell could not be recognized.Also I was thinking ,the machine could read the definition in one go but that's not the case as the child should click on each word of the definition to be read.The screen is on two lines which means the child should often scroll down with the arrow key.Because of the price I was expecting something more advanced.

good ideas gift,poor quality.
Brought it or my son 6years old or christmas.very useful but after 3 weeks the word on the screen go faint,harldy to see the word any more.Have to returned it back. Read more
