I purchased this from Amazon for my wife for Christmas, so cannot say I have actually used it. What I would like to say is that the larger screen, the size of the keys and the layout of the keys, makes this a far superior product to the pocket example, that I do own myself. The size of the product is still a handy size, but even though it is not a great deal larger than the pocket size it is much easier to operate, particulary for those people with larger hands, or perhaps slight difficulties with stiffness in their hands. The information the dictionary provides is as good as anything on the market.

Actually bought this as a replacement for an identical one which had gone faulty. Can't complain too much though because it was several years old and used pretty incessantly by my Dad, who likes to do crosswords and whose only objective is to get them done by hook or by crook so sees nothing wrong with a bit of assistance from a technical gadget.

Helps to keep his brain going.

There is a much smaller device from the same vendor that does the same job, but the buttons and display are too small for my Dad.

The failure mechanism seems to be the keyboard membrane which just wears out if used a lot.

Larger than normal electronic dictionaries, hence easier to operate and view.
Several words are not in the "Dictionary" section, hence no definition available, which is disappointing.

I have started using this Dictionary as a crossword solver. The first problem is that of mastering the controls - that done it is possible to set up long searches for a word, and the machine can suggest hundreds of words. With a lengthy searches the solver has to take time out to 'collect its thoughts'. Sometimes there is a swift resolution to the query, at others a polite refusal (Sorry can't help you). The same applies to anagram solving. Clever as it is, it is not a substitute for a good, old fashioned dictionary, thesaurus, and other books of reference, but it is a handy help.

I thought that being a "desktop" version the keys would be bigger. However it works fine although it isn't as good as the older version(damaged by accident) which it replaced. For the price charged on Amazon, I'm quite happy but it isn't worth the full retail price of around £30.

A friend showed me this product when I was struggling to finish a crossword. It was love at first sight! I ordered one for myself. Now I can usually finish the crossword in the newspaper. I can also use if for Codeword puzzles when I get stuck! I have fun playing the games. The Crossword Solver is easy, but the Anagram one is hard! I didn't notice at first that you don't have to use all the letters! Even so, I don't get all the answers.

A neat, useful gadget. Good for anagrams and finding a word with only a few letters. Pocket sized so readily portable although that does mean the keys are on the small size but the display is large enough for my failing eyersight!
