More About the Author
The designer of multi-award-winning worldwide hit children's television show "Bob the Builder", and the author/illustrator of numerous children's books (including the acclaimed "Frankenstein's Cat"), Curtis lives with his family in Cheshire, England, surrounded by a ridiculous collection of film and animation memorabilia. He grew up as a child of the 70s on a hearty diet that included Star Wars, Action Man, Flash Gordon, LEGO, Fighting Fantasy books and Harryhausen monster movies. A horror fan from this young age, pre-school television seemed like a natural career path.
Having left Cleveland College of Art & Design in Middlesbrough, England, in 1994, he went on to first experience film work for the Oscar-winning "Wallace & Gromit" Aardman team, and followed that up as a model-maker and prop-painter on Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks!" before moving on to design the BAFTA-award-winning Bob the Builder. The animated series "Frankenstein's Cat", commissioned by the BBC, has been shown around the globe, picking up the Pulcinella award for 'Best Children's Show' at the 2008 International Cartoons On the Bay festival in Salerno, Italy. His hit new preschool show, "RAA RAA the Noisy Lion" can be seen on CBeebies and TV channels the world over.
"Wereworld: Rise of the Wolf", is Curtis's first novel as we enter the world of Lyssia and the many therianthropes that inhabit it. It was written mostly at night while the children slept and when the TV work was done. Curtis is currently writing the second volume in the series, in which the last of the Werewolves, Drew Ferran, encounters a new host of deadly and dangerous Werelords. Six thrilling volumes make up this epic fantasy horror series of novels.
"Haunt: Dead Scared", is based (very loosely) upon Curtis's life growing up in the sleepy industrial town of Warrington in the northwest of England. Equal parts ghost story, buddy/buddy tale and murder mystery, this is a darkly comic chiller for ages 10+!
