Michelin France Road Atlas 2010, 13 Mar 2010
This review is from: France 2010 - atlas (A3-Spiral) (Michelin Tourist & Motoring Atlases) (Paperback)
What a relief to have found that Michelin have published their road atlas in A3 format this year. I was unable to find that format last year and had to make do with the smaller A4 version (2008). I find the larger sized pages more convenient to follow my preferred routes off the main roads. I don't need to keep it in the glove-box of my camper van.
What a pity the grid references are not consistent year-to-year, I thought it was a useful innovation to be able to refer to 10km squares by letter (horizontal) and number (vertical) and hoped that there would be consistency between years. Not so!
I hope the plastic spiral binding will 'stay put' this year. I've found the ends to unravel in the past and it annoys me to have to try to re-thread the spiral in the page holes.
Apart from those minor gripes, I wouldn't be without my Michelin 1:200,000 atlas. I know all of the roads in France are marked on it, which is more than can be said of my sat-nav.

Atlas of France, 9 May 2010

Never tour France without a decent set of maps. The Michelin annual atlas is ideal for this and at a scale of about 3 miles to the inch has enough detail to find most of the small villages. The atlas also has masses of useful information (maps of the motorways showing the petrol stations, for instance) and a huge index of places. An essential back-up for your GPS!

Excellent update, 22 April 2010
This review is from: France 2010 - atlas (A3-Spiral) (Michelin Tourist & Motoring Atlases) (Paperback)
A better format than the previous edition we had, and thought was excellent. Sat Nav is all very well when driving but this is the best tool for planning a route. It also shows the location of fixed speed cameras so it can save its cost many times over.
