I bought this book for my MSc and it was invaluable, it covers every aspect of fractures in great detail and is useful for 2nd year geologist and up. The diagrams are clear,the text is easy to read and follow, and there are plenty of maths related problems (which the book give answers for in each chapter).

This book was as clear and descriptive as its title, explaining from scratch (yes) the main concepts of rock fracturing and how the selected theories are applied to actual fractures and faults. The Kindle version I purchased displays all the formulas and explanatory figures quite well. The final chapters include some discussions and examples on fluid flow, suitable for e.g. geothermal studies. Images and colour pictures can be freely downloaded from the publisher's website.
