Product Description

Review

"Heart-pounding . . . Slaughter brings the same raw energy and brutal violence that distinguishes her Grant County Series (Beyond Reach, etc) to this new series with chilling results, while Trent an Mitchell, a pair of complex and deeply flawed heroes, will leave fans clamoring for the next installment."--"Publishers Weekly" (starred review)

"Startling twists . . . [The detectives'] quirky relationship--as much as the increasingly intriguing investigation--fuels this fun read."--"People"

"A superior crime novel . . . [Slaughter is] fiercely focused and one of the most talented young crime novelists."--"Washington Post
"
""Fractured" dazzles because it works on the level of both plot and character [and] the combination is unbeatable."--Cleveland" Plain-Dealer
"
"Unexpected twists and intriguing characters."--"Entertainment Weekly"

I have read all of Karin Slaughter's books, and absolutely loved each one. I really like the Grant County series, although I also thought her stand alone book, Triptych, was excellent. I have been very excited waiting for the release of Fractured. However, I did not feel that this book was as good as any of her others. It was still a good read, but after Triptch I was expecting an amazing story, with many twists in the plot. The book did not deliver. I did not think anything was particularly surprising. There were not 'loads of plot twists' despite what other reviews may say. I don't want to spoil the story, so I won't go into detail, but don't expect a list of suspects, and then a big "OMG - he did it" at the end. It ended exactly as I thought it would.
To summarise, I would still recommend Fractured to Karin Slaughter fans, but I would warn that this is probably the weakest out of all her books to date.

Fractured 3 July 2008
By molko VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
When Atlanta housewife Abigail Campano comes home unexpectedly one afternoon, she walks into a nightmare. A broken window, a bloody footprint on the stairs and, most devastating of all, the horrifying sight of her teenage daughter lying dead on the landing, a man standing over her with a bloody knife. The struggle which follows changes Abigail's life forever. When the local police make a misjudgement which not only threatens the investigation but places a young girl's life in danger, the case is handed over to Special Agent Will Trent of the Criminal Apprehension Team - teamed with detective Faith Mitchell, a woman who resents him from their first meeting. But in the relentless heat of a Georgia summer, Will and Faith realise that they must work together to find the brutal killer who has targeted one of Atlanta's wealthiest, most privileged communities - before it's too late.

This is the second book in Karin Slaughter's Will Trent series. I thought this book was really good it was full of Slaughters trademark twists and turns and the 2 leading detectives were absolutely believable and highly readable. I think the story line is really good and again, believable as we follow the effects of the tragedy on the surrounding environments. While this is the second Will Trent book it would be just as good as a standalone.
Karin Slaughter really is a breathtaking talent in the genre and definately one of the best at it, definately worth a read.

Loved this book 4 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
I've read all Karin Slaughter books and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. This is very different from her Grant County series but just as good in my opinion. I read it in about 3 days and could hardly put it down, I hope she does more with Will and Faith in as really liked both characters.
