5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome 29 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a brilliant book. Awesome. A unique theme very well written. Keeps you guessing right to the bitterweet end. I really couldn't put this book down - make sure you read it in one sitting, you will need to. The story is about Rachel, the central character, and how she comes to terms with how her life changes, and how it affcts those close to her, following a devastating accident. The plot and the characters are really well constructed and I didn't want this book to end. More please from Dany Atkins. At 78p on Kindle it is a shame that this book is not being very heavily promoted. Found it by accident, would have happily paid full price for it and the lack of promotion and the price does not do the author justice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and original romance! 21 Jan 2013
By Louise
Format:Kindle Edition
I've been looking for a new contemporary romance to read (after ploughing through a lot of pretty sub-par erotica) and came across this novel. I am SO GLAD I FOUND IT.

This is a fantastic debut set in England, telling the story of Rachel, whose life is torn apart after a tragic accident. Five years later, she ends up returning to Great Bishopsford, where she used to live, but a fall lands her in hospital. Waking up she learns her life seems to have fractured - and everything that she thought had happened since the accident never took place. Instead she's in a world where everything is completely different . . . including her fiancé.

This book has everything - genuine, likeable characters and fantastic dialogue (with some definite laugh-out-loud moments), as well as a heartbreaking love triangle at the centre. I can't recommend this enough - but beware of reading the ending in public. I did NOT see it coming and it blew me away!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful read 26 Aug 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Generally speaking, I don’t read bestsellers. I’m not being “Adrian Mole”-ish, for the most part, I am dissatisfied by most choc-lit, chick-lit, vamp-lit or whatever happens to be in vogue. Most of it really is like Chinese food - looks good, tastes great, but an hour later you’re hungry again. Mostly I’m thinking that’s precious reading time I’ll never get back.

Well, there are exceptions, and this is one. It’s been on my TBR list for an age, I’d been put off downloading it as something else always seemed to be more interesting. How wrong I was. Where was this book for the past year whilst I’ve been reading so much average stuff?

As you can read in the blurb, a young lady’s life is changed forever after a very nasty accident, which maims her, and kills one of her closest friends. Five years pass and life seems grim with low self esteem, no boyfriend, a dead end job and a sick father, then she appears to be transported into an alternate timeline where she is headstrong and confident, engaged, has a brilliant job and a father who is fighting fit. Unfortunately, she knows that this timeline isn’t real, and she tries to convince those around her that the new life is completely alien to her.

This book got me thinking as to what I would do if presented with this unlikely scenario; whether I’d go with it early, or try to find answers. The one thing that bugged me a little about the tale was the amount of detail packed into her “second” world, early on she ascertains she doesn’t appear to be dreaming....and yet the explanation for all this you can work out is the complete opposite. Also, although I don’t think it is altogether impossible, but does stretch the imagination, is a police Inspector at the age of 23 - even if it is rather necessary to the storyline.

I decided to read this book after reading the reviews. My usual genre is Crime/Thriller and I felt like reading a book without any murders to solve for once :) The idea of parallel lives interested me and I must say I was drawn into the story immediately. Without spoiling the story the book explores two scenarios, two sets of events in the lives of a group of friends who experience an accident together - life could go one way.......... or another !!!! The stories are linked but very cleverly kept separate with no misunderstandings as to which life you are reading about at a particular time. I like the main character, she seemed very believable - all the characters did in fact. I read the book in three big chunks! It did turn out to be quite a page turner. I couldn't imagine how the author would tie everything up at the end - but she did and very well too. I will be looking out for more from Dani.

Easy to read. I didn't get lost which can happen with two tales intertwined. And the final chapter was sad but happy and left me wondering which was reality. Great read and looking forward to next book

4.0 out of 5 stars An intriguing story 8 Sep 2014
By June Doll TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is an unusual story, quite different from anything else I have ever read. It does keep you wondering all the way through. The heroine is Rachel. The story starts in 2008 when Rachel and her friends have just finished school and are all set to go off to university. A group of them are having a final get together in an Italian restaurant before they all go their separate ways in life. All of them are happy, excited about the future when there is a dreadful accident which leaves one member of the group dead and Rachel badly scarred. Traumatised by the accident Rachel feels unable to go to university. She moves away and ends up living in a tiny flat and working in a dead end job. She becomes reclusive, cutting herself off from all her old friends. She is still suffering side effects as a result of the accident. Five years after the accident everything changes. Rachel's former best friend asks her to be her bridesmaid and unwillingly Rachel agrees to go back to her home town for the wedding. There is a an incident and suddenly Rachel's life is changed irrevocably. It is as if the clock has been turned back and she has her old life back. But what is the truth? How can this have happened? These are the questions which will have the reader wondering.
This is a good story which will keep you reading to the end. The characterisation is a bit shallow and as a result all of the characters are somewhat one dimensional. Nevertheless it is worth reading and I enjoyed it.
