I've successfully installed a 2TB hard drive in my Foxsat-HDR, and also popped the old 320GB drive into a caddy so I can watch all of my old recordings (including HD). It was good before, but now it's an utterly fantastic machine!
If anyone's interested in doing the same, just search for "Foxsat-HDR 1.5TB 2TB Hard Drive Install Guide" on Ebay.
Or rather than buying a guide you could look at the information on the web and join the discussion: http://foxsat-hdr.wikispaces.com/The+HDR+FAQ
Q. Can I upgrade my internal hard disk, and what model is recommended? A. Although you invalidate your warranty by opening the HDR, but yes, you can upgrade the internal hard disk with a bigger one. These are the hard drive people have reported to work inside an HDR: Western Digital 1TB WD10EVCS, 1TB WD10EADS, and 1TB Samsung HD103UJ SpinPoint F1. The HDR manual warns: The company shall not be liable for problems caused by changing hard disk drive by user. If you have old recordings on your replaced hard drive, you can put this into a USB hard disk enclosure and connect it to the HDR to transfer recordings onto the new internal disk. For more info about disk replacement, read this thread on DS ( http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=940956 ), or this thread on hummy.org.uk ( http://www.hummy.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=5059 ).
Just to clarify; the installation guide on Ebay is still the only fully featured set of instructions that shows how to install a hard drive LARGER than a bog-standard 1TB into the Foxsat-HDR. The procedure is completely different for 1.5TB and 2TB hard drives, and until the release of this guide, was thought by many to be impossible.
I can clarify that Western Digital's 1.5TB WD15EVDS and 2TB WD20EVDS both work flawlessly in the Foxsat-HDR. I've personally been running my machine with a WD20EVDS inside it since December 2009, and all features of the Humax have continued to work 100% correctly from day one. If anyone is still uncertain about being able to follow such a 'technical' guide, be assured that it was written specifically for absolutely anyone to use, and the 100% positive feedback from all that have bought it would appear to bear this out.
