When accident-prone Helen Grey finds a thong stuffed into the pocket of her boyfriend's best work trousers, it's time for her to move on. His excuse that he needed to dust the photocopier and just thought that it was a rag sounds like a lame excuse.

Helen's life is propelled in an unexpected direction after her best friend, Ayshe, sets her a fourteen-day, life-changing challenge. Helen receives a task everyday which she must complete without question. The tasks are designed to build her confidence and boost her self-esteem but all they seem to do is push her closer to Ayshe's brother, Kalem.

How will Kalem and Helen get together when she's too foolish to realize that she loves him? How can he fall for her when he is too busy falling prey to her mishaps and too in love with his own perfect girlfriend? How will Kalem's Turkish Cypriot family react when they find out?

About the Author

Sibel Hodge has dual British/Turkish Cypriot nationality, dividing her time between Hertfordshire and North Cyprus. She is a qualified personal trainer, sports and massage therapist, and writes freelance feature articles on health, fitness, and various lifestyle subjects. Prior to this, she also worked for Hertfordshire Constabulary for ten years.

Her debut novel, Fourteen Days Later, is a romantic comedy with a unique infusion of British and Turkish Cypriot culture. Written in a similar style to Catherine Alliott and Marian Keyes, Fourteen Days Later is My Big Fat Greek Wedding meets P.S. I Love You.

The Fashion Police is her second novel and was a runner up in the Chapter One Promotions Novel Competition 2010. It is a screwball comedy-mystery, combining murder and mayhem with romance and chick-lit, and the first in a series featuring feisty, larger-than-life insurance investigator, Amber Fox. I'm really not sure where to start with this. I thought it was absolutely wonderful! Helen has decided to take up the challenge of trying a new thing every day for two weeks after being let down by her boyfriend. Along the way she learns new things about herself and finds love is sometimes nearer to home than you think.

I found it very very funny. I was laughing out loud in places and my partner was giving me some very odd looks. I so identified with Helen. I loved her clumsy disaster prone nature (very like myself!) it made her very endearing and lovable.

All in all another good one from this author. I am now off to read the sequel!

I love this book! Haven't we all read those articles in Women's magazines and scoffed at them! Fourteen Days Later is about Helen, who has taken 6 months to get over her cheating ex-boyfriend, and whose friend Ayshe persuades her to "Change Her Life in Fourteen Days" as their magazine suggests - all while preparing for Ayshe's wedding. Helen is hilariously accident prone - her antics made me laugh out loud, especially the boob hanging out of her swimming costume at the spa!
The characters are brilliantly written, and I really got caught up in the story. Sibel Hodge is a real breath of fresh air in the chicklit world, a great discovery, and I can't wait for her next book!

I read Fourteen Days Later on a plane to Orlando. There's nothing like being stuck in a flying can to concentrate your mind on a good book. It made the flight fly by :)
I was really taken in by Helen's character and was willing her to have a happy ending. In this type of book you can guess the ending practically from the start, but it's all about the journey. And what a journey it was too.
I think this book was more interesting with the different nationalities / customs. I'm so used to "white" characters that I rarely come across and appreciate the differences in customs that can cause hilarious misunderstandings.
