Ther are no electronic gadgets,no gimmicks,no dancing girls, no spectacular lighting, no prima-donnas, no posing - just four of the world's greatest musicians of their genre playing unbelievably together. This live concert was held in front of a very small audience, yet the band played as if there were a million people there. The music is crystal clear and every number is as good as the last. For sheer musical brilliance, Lee Ritenour's solo guitar work on Monterey is unbeatable and every note that Nathan East, the world's greatest electric bass player, played or sung (sounding more like George Benson than George Benson) is magical. Bob James on keyboards is electrifying and can do no wrong and Harvey Mason on drums is as intelligent a drummer as you are ever likely to hear.
You may gather that I consider this DVD to be outstanding in every respect - there is absolutely nothing that I could find to criticise, except perhaps for the director fading the last track to bring up the credits. Inexcusable! If you are a lover of smooth jazz and are looking to watch 2 hours of sheer musical magic without any gimmicks, enabling you to watch the musicians perform as only they can, then this is the only DVD you will ever need.
