I bought this as a gift for a friend who does Amateur Dramatics and tried hard not to get grubby finger marks on it as I attempted to read it carefully before giving it away. I knew it already from when I did Am Dram myself and it is very very funny - so much so that I am chuckling as I write this.
I love Am Dram and the people who do it but there are so many 'trueisms' in this book for even the best run drama group that you will recognise yourself or your group or a group that you go to see very easily even if they are wonderful.
This really is the definitive book of coarse plays but beware if you are thinking of putting them on. They are hard to do. You have to do them 'straight' as that is where the comedy is. If you try to add extra comedy yourself you will confuse the audience who will have no idea if they are watching 'coarse' actors or really bad actors. Handle with caution it takes skill to be a truly 'coarse' actor.
