5.0 out of 5 stars Great Writing 26 April 2004
Format:Hardcover
I've read this novel over and over and I like it better each time. It'sabout a group of interconnected characters all of whom are facing somesort of personal crisis, and is written with a dry wit and the sort ofsharp-eyed observation of human nature that makes you laugh, andoccasionally wince with recognition. There are elements of social comedy, but there is also a darker seam running through the book in the form ofthe slightly menacing Russell, and the ending brings all the plot strandstogether in a way that is unexpected but completely satisfying. Highlyrecommended.
