Both my wife and I are great fans of the ripps having visiting the states just to see them live.
The last CD was very poor and I don't play it. This one is a bit better but still not that good. It should have the Rippingtons name removed and sold as a Russ Freeman solo album. Some tracks are quite good and sound I bit like Topaz , where others are "look how good I can play a guitar" demos.
Look at the back catalogue if you want great music (Topaz, Life in the Tropics to name a couple)
Not a good CD and not smooth jazz.
R.I.P. The Rippingtons

I do agree with the reviewer who felt this album was more of a Russ Freeman solo, and it is noticeable that no other musicians are credited on the sleeve and indeed, Russ himself admits in his notes that his intention was to use as many guitars as possible. That said, I am a confessed fan of all things Rippingtons and Russ Freeman and have never missed buying an album, and this is an excellent smooth jazz guitar album, typical of the artist and his genre. It would seem to me that he is finding more success under the Rippingtons name than his own!

I think Russ Freeman forgot what as the essence of the Rippingtons a long time ago; I'm so disapointed that he has not changed this kind of offering since the last decade at all; mellow, smooth, syncopized tunes, with this "pseudoflamenco" guitar over an electronically digitalized rhythm, which only demonstrates that this is Russ' solitary adventure; I really miss imagination, energy and inspiration; I loved this group when they were a happy and energetic group, they sounded like a group and they offered strong and nice melodies. I will not buy it, but it's up to you!
