Foundations of Psychology is a new edition of the bestselling introductory psychology textbook written by the acclaimed Nicky Hayes. This text is consistently praised for its accessible yet comprehensive coverage, its clarity and the real world examples that are used to explain concepts. Keeping the content of the previous edition, it spans the six central areas of psychology; cognitive psychology; individual and abnormal psychology; social psychology; developmental psychology; and comparative psychology.
I am Nicky Hayes - a fully qualified psychologist who has had a varied career teaching, learning, researching and communicating psychology. I am now semi-retired and living in the far North of Scotland, but previously I lived in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, and before that the City of Leeds. I have written a variety of books about psychology, and edited or contributed to one or two more. My interests have spanned quite a range over the decades, and have changed as I have grown older; but include the psychology of interactive design, small business management, social identification and social representations, and the application of psychology to effective everyday practice. On the recreational front, I particularly enjoy reading science fiction, some biographies, and of course the great Terry Pratchett. I don't have a facebook account, so if you find one on there pretending to be me it isn't. (although I think the imposter is gone, now).
Hope you enjoy the books.
