This is a fantastic book for either an introduction to sport psychology or even at a higher level. I have used this book many times for assignments and it has been extremely good book to use. This is a must for any university/college student studying sports psychology.

This is my first year studying Psychology and this book is the most straightforward and easy to read psychology book I have found. It covers a wide variety of topics and research in the area - all in a way that will make you say "oh, I get it". A great book for those studying or for someone who is just interested in the subject.

By Furzle
Format:Hardcover
I found this book really useful for a second-year introductory degree module in Sports Psychology. All the basic areas we covered are included, with several references to studies to back up the theories (there's also a history of the science in the first chapter). It's a pretty hefty book, so there was a lot more in there that I didn't need, but for those doing sport-specific or sport psychology A levels or degrees, it would probably encompass what's required, although a bit more detail or more studies may be needed. What information I used from the book was explained clearly without being patronising and plenty of examples are used for additional explanations. Some guidelines are also included for applying the theories to coaching practice and other sporting contexts. The chapters cover many subject areas, including personality, motivation and rewards, anxiety and leadership. Plenty of diagrams and pictures are used to aid understanding, as are 'key point' boxes. The book also comes with a handy online revision guide and revision questions at the end of each chapter.
