About the Author
Colin Baker holds a Personal Chair of the University of Wales, and teaches in the School of Education at the University of Wales, Bangor. Some of his previously published books with Multilingual Matters include: Attitudes and Language (1992), a Parents' and Teachers' Guide to Bilingualism (second edition in 2000), the Encyclopedia of Bilingualism and Bilingual Education (1998 - with Sylvia Prys Jones) and The Care and Education of Young Bilinguals (2000). The previous editions of this book were published in 1993,1996 and 2001.

A vast comprehensive overview of bilingualism

Colin Baker draws from a vast well of resources. The Bibliography spans about 40 pages alone. I am positive that this book will stand as the 'textbook' of blingualism for generations to come. It is an excellent source of information and education.

I will be taking BCLAD for languages other than English Test IV. This book is a good study guide. Do also download the test guide from cset official web site. You shall find answers in this book to the guide. If not, check on the internet for additional info. Good luck to all!

Baker's "Foundations of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism" is the MUST-HAVE definitive guide to bilingualism for anyone who is interested in the topic. The guide is a comprehensive guide to second language acquisition, bilingualism and cognition, language policy, bilingual education research, and anything else you ever wanted to know about bilingual education. This book would also be helpful to anyone who is interested in the study of second language acquisition, as well as the education of English learners. This book is the best book I ever read about bilingual education.
