Not as portrayed-very old copy and did not include all books. Very disappointed in purchase. Not a site to be used again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Early Asimov Still Beats Par 14 April 2008
By Peter Dykhuis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
It is really an enormous tragedy that so many of Isaac Asimov's great Science Fiction works remain out of print. The three `Empire' novels by Asimov are a great example. All three books are wonderfully written and fill the gap between The Robot novels and the Foundation series beautifully. These novels also give us a glimpse at the state of science in the fifties. If you are an Asimov fan and see any of the Empire novels available for loan or purchase please do so. You will not be sorry. To clear up some confusion on the part of some, the reason these novels are called `Empire' novels is because they take place just before the Empire referenced in the Foundation series began, during its infancy and during its peak. Very much fun indeed.

If you want to read them in order read The Stars Like Dust First, which takes place before the birth of the Foundation referenced Empire. Then read The Currents of Space which takes place during the infancy of the Foundation referenced Empire. Lastly read Pebble in the Sky which takes place during the peak of the Foundation referenced Empire.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous REAL-FICTION stories 17 Jun 2004
By Pedro Javelly - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Asimov did a hell of a job gathering all his stories in a series of books. In The Complete Stories Vol. 1 his handwrittings from the 1940's just up to 1967 are printed in a wonderful science-fiction masterpiece. Asimov is well reknowned as the father of SciFi, and this stories demonstrate how he can write about politics, medicine, science, anthropology, or even sexuality. This book gives you down-to-earth, really involving stories, that will surely catch your attention. You'll find stories about the gigantic Multivac predicting electorial votes from just one person; a robot flirtering his bosses' wife; a super-intelligent computer who wants to comit suicide; and lots of different stories in a wide variety of topics, but all related to SciFi.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simply one of the greatest ! 6 April 2014
By John Uhr - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I read "The Foundation Trilogy" as a kid and it's fascinating extrapolation of human history across centuries and among the stars and systems of the galaxy expanded my own horizons of thought like no other book I'd read. This particular edition was purchased for my own son. It is well made and contains several other entertaining books by the brilliant and thoughtful writer, Isaac Asimov.
