Product Description

Review

Praise for other books by Tom Palmer: 'Tom Palmer is a kind of missionary sent by the Premier League ... a clever book' -- Daily Mirror 'Gripping and witty ... Shaking Hands with Michael Rooneyis quite simply the perfect soccer yarn' -- Robert Swindells, author of Stone Cold

Sunday Times, May 4th 2008

"written accessibly and with a light touch, this is the kind of story to appeal to reluctant readers as well as established readers - and their fathers too. The first of a Football Detective series, it scores with the precision of a Ronaldo free kick"
(Children's Book of the Week)

A Real Page Turner 26 Jun 2008
Format:Paperback
I bought this for my nephew after picking it up in a bookshop and really enjoying reading it myself, its a real page turner and a great book for boys obsessed with football (are there any who aren't?). Its a detective story in which the main character tries to unravel the mystery of why his favourite footballer is kidnapped. He has to tackle some very nasty characters along the way, as well as try and hide what he's up to from his parents and sister, and there's a growing interest in a very pretty girl in his class. Very well written and very pacy. Kept my nephew hooked right to the end.

Fantastic Read 6 Sep 2008
Format:Paperback
This is a great football book for children, especially those who are reluctant readers. The book is fast paced and very exciting. The story has a likeable lead character and a great villian! You can tell the author knows his stuff about football, but more generally this is an excellent story.

I got this for my son, Jake. He loves hs football, but is not a keen reader. The amazing thing was he read this in a week. Then wanted to find out about the next book by Tom Palmer. It's a great book for lads who aren;t that into their reading. Five stars.
