5.0 out of 5 stars I was confused but now I'm not 1 Oct 2013

How come only 1 review, I want to order 3 of these led lights for portable 3 point lighting on the go but very hesitant because it only has 1 review and I only see 1 video review for the Fotodiox Pro LED 508A not the Bi-color Fotodiox Pro LED 508AS and I've searched the entire web. Come on, did anybody buy this light? Did anybody live to tell about it? What's wrong with this light? I want to know. I live for these reviews if I'm spending my hard earned money. It makes me kind of weary and skeptical. I have 3 in my cart but I'll wait until I hear any review before I spend a grand on these 3 lights. I gave 3 stars because it's the only way they will let me post this statement. *** That statement was 3 weeks earlier. I ordered these lights because I couldn't wait and they arrived 3 days later. It was like Christmas. I now own 3 of these lights for my company Final Cut Multimedia. I needed 3 for my 3 point lighting system for my studio, on location and outside for music videos. These lights are exactly what you'll need. I'm tired of slacking and trying to go the cheap route, you'll end up spending more money in the long run buying all those cheap bargains. These lights can hold their own, even in the daytime. They are very convenient for setting up, taking down and transporting. They are not even heavy. I have three of them and I can carry all 3 in one hand but I wouldn't suggest it because they have their own carrying case with shoulder straps. And everything fits easily in the bags. They are supper bright but very dimmable. even though they are bicolor the light intensity isn't as bright when turned all the way to 5600K or all the way to 3200k they still are bright as heck, I just leave mine in the middle for the max power and the color temp will be somewhere in the middle and to me it resembles natural daytime therefore you don't have to keep adjusting your color balance. I love there lights. They never get hot so they're safe to put color gels on them to create different effects for backlighting etc. I recommend Roscoe Roscolux 20" x 24" Color Effects Lighting Filters with a little tape and let your creative juices flow. I own 3 Red Head lights and I wouldn't dare put gels on them because they get extremely hot and will melt the gels for sure. My red Head lights are not battery powered and very inconvenient because you must have a power source and make sure you have enough power because they suck a lot of it. But now I'm all good. The battery life is pretty good and you get 2 fat, fat, fat batteries per light which is pretty cool, I'm yet to run down my batteries. I hope this was helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent high quality light!! 13 Sep 2013

I bought this light in need of something a little stronger than many of the 300LED battery powered lights you see out there. It really surpassed my expectations. I have a 300LED battery powered light already and this was easily twice as bright. It's build quality is also much better than some of the other ones I've seen and does not look cheap. It's pretty slim, but not too slim, the weight is about what you would expect. It is a bit bigger than it looks in the pictures though so I was a bit surprised. The dimming and tone changing work very well and it puts off a nice day light color or a cool blue...or you can mix both by keeping the knob in the middle.

My only negative thing to say was the price point being a little high. $249 would be much more justifiable and $199 would be hands down no question. I still say it's just about worth it if you need a high quality light. Unfortunately I had to return mine as something was loose inside (a small screw or washer), but I am definitely ordering another one!

The lights are compact and build quality is good. They come with a really nice case with places for all the accessories - 110V adapter, 2 batteries, dual battery charger and ball mount. I was disappointed that the ball mount does not have provision for attaching to a standard 5/8" lightstand stud so I had to buy an additional item for each of the two lights I bought.

With my first interview, they were very useful. One can mix any amount of the 3200K and 5600K bulb banks as needed. While I appreciate them, I do think they are on the edge of pricing reasonableness.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Versatile Portable Light Kit 11 Feb 2014

This light is excellent for interviews and of course, with the adjustable colour temperature, you're not just restricted to tungsten balanced studio lighting. It can also be a nice fill light when shooting your subject by a window or outdoors when backlit by the sun, or even splashing some warmth on a dim face on an overcast day. Like a poor man's Light Panel, these are affordable, so why not get a couple and you can do the classic key/fill or key/backlight set ups. The handy little shoulder strap bag makes it easy for me to carry around two light kits, two stands, my Sony EX1-R camera and tripod without an assistant. Highly recommended.
