WELL TITLED 27 May 2009
By Thomas Buckley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This book is just what the title states. It is not a compilation of pictures and drawings that will help you identify your finds to the genus level.
It is a very strong resource in a few areas. It gives very detailed methods of removing fossils from different rock types. It has very good sections on collecting and preparation tools and their use. Finally, it goes into detail on chemical restoration and preservation. The author is very much concerned with how fossils display rather than keeping them as natural as possible. Purists will gasp, but if you want your specimens to be aesthetically pleasing, then this book will be an invaluable resource.
Another thing worth mentioning is that most of the localities mentioned are in Europe and the author is really into ammonites.
Overall, for what it is, an excellent addition to any enthusiast's library.
