Book Description

19 Mar 2013 Classical Art Edition

Forty Week: An Ignatian Path to Christ with Sacred Story Prayer (classic art edition) is the parish version of the new Ignatian Examen as detailed in the book: Sacred Story-An Ignatian Examen for the Third Millennium. Designed as a parish spiritual renewal program/resource for pastors, parishioners, adult faith formation directors and RCIA programs, it also serves as a self-guided prayer experience for the individual user.

Forty Weeks will be a life-changing annual program to introduce congregation members to a heart-felt personal relationship with Jesus in daily prayer, spiritual discernment and a regular and fruitful practice of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. All in all, about twenty years' worth of reflection, study, testing, feedback, and refinement have gone into this updated version of St. Ignatius' powerful Examen prayer.

Forty Weeks is a perfect program of solid, classic spirituality updated for the third millennium to promote the new evangelization first described by Pope John Paul II early in his papacy, continued by Pope Benedict XVI and now strongly proclaimed by Pope Francis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trust the process 3 Jan 2014

This is a trustworthy resource for spiritual growth, but it demands patience. Just like Ignatius did (and he instructed his followers to do), we are invited to walk a slow meaningful path of transformation and humility. I liked the process, though it's difficult to get used to at the beginning. The audio mP3's on the website have been helpful to me. It's a program that can be used and adapted for individuals, small groups, and congregations. It's written for Roman Catholics but the concepts are easily adaptable for those in other Christian denominations.

I spent time reading this and doing this 40 weeks of St Ignatius 40 week program and found that my life totally changed for the better. I pray now all day and find that my life is so much more peaceful, in tune with God, love and joy and if you want to find the perfect prayer study THIS IS IT..... U will not go wrong in getting this into your parish's as well as for your own enjoyment in learning. Very simplistic, yet deepens your faith in God and all of Catholicism. BEST BUY AND BEST BOOK FOR EVERYONE.... A MUST READ....

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it 3 Oct 2013

As I finish each 15 minutes daily time there is much joy in my heart. The answers to old questions have become clear.. It's too early to give 5 stars but for now I'm really happy to be underway with my forty weeks. I have another Ignatius retreat book purchsed 10 years ago and never finished. This approach is deeper, yet much more friendly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anyone interested in prayer will find merit from this book 27 April 2014

This book is a great manual for working with the Ignatian Method of prayer.

It takes one on the entire Spiritual Exercises but adapted for working people who cannot take thirty days of full time contemplation on the method.

Years ago as a college student, I joined a group of students working with the Mark Link, SJ, books. This book is similar to Links books.

What I have discovered over the years in reading various Jesuit authors on the Ignatian method, is that each author brings insights to the method and the more one reads on the subject the greater the depth one can enter.

This book is another portal to the genius of Ignatian prayer. It can highly enrich your life and take you into a closeness with the ineffable if you seriously practice the exercises.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritual Journey 14 May 2014
By SonicFog - Published on

Father Watson uses the life of Saint Ignatius to lead us on a journey of our life's spiritual story. Ignatius had a routine of prayer and reflection called The Examine. The result is a gentle awakening to our sins that are stopping us in life and to the events and people who are helping us gain in faith, hope and love.
