Pearl Robinson (yeah her name is Mrs Robinson) has been divorced for over two years and hasn't had a date and hasn't had a "proper" orgasm. Her ex-husband`s idea of foreplay was "rubbing her groin as if she were a horse" Rhythmic efficiency Pearl described it as . I was laughing out loud by this time and wondered what else was in store from this author.

I love stories about the older woman and the younger man. I was intrigued to find out if Arianne Richmonde would actually make this story work and..........for me it did.

There are a further two books in this trilogy and at last we have an author who provides a happy ending, did not leave the reader hanging on by cutting the final instalment short or make us wait for another 7 or 8 episodes to find out how it ends.

40 Shades of Pearl was a refreshing read with a different take on of a relationship. Alexandre and Pearl's relationship is intense considering that he is 25 and she is 40. There is no BDSM theme, no stalking Alpha male, just a good hot erotic book. Arianne Richmonde also provides the reader with twists and turns which keeps you turning the pages.

I also enjoyed the way she introduced a number of good musical tracks into the scenes e.g. Come to me High (Rummer), Under My Thumb (Rolling Stones) Crazy for You (Madonna) Is this Love (Bob Marley) you get the picture? This really worked for me and helped me visualize the scene which were very "tongue in cheek"

I look forward to the next 2 instalments of Pearl and Alexandre's passionate journey. I hope external forces and family members don't interfere too much and Arianne Richmonde does not make us wait too long for the next two parts of the trilogy.

Loved this book! Ladies...run yourselves a cool bath

This novel is very erotic but because of the great storyline and fabulous characters I found it to be way more than just a steamy read. Contemporary romance fans will love this book. Having lived in France for many years I just loved Alexandre Chevalier, the protagonist. He was very Alpha-male, very French in every way and quite something else! To put it politely, you will not be disappointed - he delivers!

I think there are a lot of people, like me, who picked up Fifty Shades of Grey - were let down by the BDSM theme and the writing style - and put it down again. But Forty Shades of Pearl is night and day. It is really well written - Arianne Richmonde has talent. If the title puts you off, don't let it, it is a worthwhile read and in a whole other category but will still appeal to 50 Shades readers because of the hot, hot love story peppered with many pretty graphic 'love' scenes. I have to admit, there were bits that made me flush as red as a beetroot!

I really liked the fact that this book was about a woman I could identify with. I do know people who have been divorced and re-discover their sexuality in later years just the way Pearl Robinson does in the book. She becomes obsessed with this man who, literally, has control over her body because nobody can do it quite like he does. (The James Bond of Love!) We feel for her when everything seems to go wrong and are rooting for her all the way.

A great read. I devoured the whole thing in two days - couldn't put it down!

If you haven't read this five-part series, you're in for a treat.

The first book, Shades of Pearl is a great introduction to the protagonists Pearl and Alexandre, an unlikely couple as she is 15 years older. But Pearl is not your typical 40-year-old...she is very youthful, stunning, although riddled with insecurities. I liked that, it made her more three dimensional than most romance heroines. Alexandre is French, and although a billionaire, there is a good reason for him being one...he's a social media sensation (like Mark Zukerberg but sexy and sophisticated).

Book 2, Shadows of Pearl is a roller coaster ride and book 3, Shadows of Pearl, continues that ride, keeping you on the edge of your seat. Pearl and Belle Pearl are MUST READS, as we are introduced to new characters not known about in the trilogy and the ending of Belle Pearl will knock your socks off. You will feel every emotion.

For anyone wondering if this a 50 Shades rip-off because of the Shades in the title, no it isn't. There are plenty out there with 23-year-old virgins/over-possessive jealous males and this isn't one of them. There is no BDSM theme, either, and the writing style is light years away from 50. SO MUCH BETTER WRITTEN.The only thing they share in common is great sex and a fun sense of humor.

Really loved this series, you won't be disappointed if you are looking for something original and very well written with suspense.

Arianne Richmonde is my favorite author...she really delivers every time. I love her writing style which is more literary than other romance authors and in a league of its own.

I enjoyed this book because it was different. Yes it had the alpha male, but the female character was not your usual 20 year old virgin!. The sex scenes were good and, again, different because they didn't resort to spanking and handcuffs!!

People are comparing this book to Fifty Shades but I don't think it's a carbon copy like that except yes they are both love stories, both have alpha, controlling male leads and plenty of sex, but that is where the similarity ends. I think most erotic books seem to go down the same road.

Excellent editing, good use of non repetitive vocabulary. I shall be following this trilogy.
